Here is my best shot at recreating classic 80s track Voyage Voyage by French singer Desireless in Studio One 5 Pro:

Good job!

Lacks a tiny little bit of punch compared to the original, but is very close in overall sound!

Shame that there's no vocals though!

Thanks for taking the time to listen to it and to give feedback! I agree, I feel the original has a bit more agression in bass and snare, I find it difficult to give it that (as I am also still a rookie producing only for 8 months).

I have looked also for a vocal or acapella stem, but couldn’t find it unfortunately

First steps will always be:

Sculpting a sound with EQ.

Using compression to control its dynamics so that the difference between the quietest and loudest hits is narrowed.

Hi, great job. A question please. Do you have this track without the drum and bass. Stems, and it's available?

thanks for this add. love the original - you captured it quite laid back. great. love it.

The vocal is what gives it the human connection. When that is missing, then something significant is missing.
Otherwise good job of recreating some of the original sounds :tu:

I can share the Studio One project if you like, but I can also send you the individual stems, just let me know.

Fully agree bansaw. If possible and available I try to use the acapella, but I could not find one for Desireless. Advantage though to have an instrumental is that you can hear the individual instruments better, which is a good thing for an instrumentalist like me

Blech! We're using synthesisers, we can sculpt the sound with our instruments. EQ is for drums, vocals and guitars, we don't need it.
Using compression to control its dynamics so that the difference between the quietest and loudest hits is narrowed.
Again, we can use our envelopes and other modulation sources to do this, only the drums might benefit from some compression.

I've never even heard of this song or artist before, so I have no idea how close to the original it is but I do know it's boring without vox.

It is a cover indeed but all stems were played by hand. Good for you that you prefer the magneto version

Deleted... Can't be bothered with getting into certain sorts of conversations... No point!

Nice, must I found the original lacking a bit of tightness in bass starting around 1:20, that's why drum machines became so popular :D
