The great Surge revival continues, with the team adding a very nice effects rack in recent releases. In this case, I used chorus and rotary
on a Dexed Rhodes preset to fatten and modulate...
does that mean it's lunchtime?

Took a stroll thru vst4free.com looking for jewelry, ethnic sounds and plugins with arps/sequencing features. But I found a plugin that excels at pads and pads with movement and sweeps...

Dionysos from Benoit Serrano, who has many 32bit plugins that should be at home in Reaper and Bitwig. I sent it thru the excellent
LaGrange granular effect unit for that little extra sumpin sumpin...

LPEdit developer here.
I have released a new version at https://github.com/StarAurryon/lpedit/releases/tag/v0.4 (https://github.com/StarAurryon/lpedit/releases/tag/v0.4) .

It nows support basic use of the POD HD500X under Linux. So you can use it instead of the Line6 POD HD500X Edit that runs only under Windows.

Hey there,
I'm new to the forum/thread and I hope to post my question at the right place...
I am considering to "kill my god" - apple - and switch to a linux system. My main issue though is how I can deal with the connectivity of my rme fireface 400 within Linux.
I use Bitwig - one of the main reasons I might finally be able to drop Apple - and need a laptop especially for live performances. They include the novation launchpad pro, the livid instruments CNTRLR and the beatstep pro.
Has anyone tipps for me concering the fireface400 and the best distro for this challenge?
Thanks a lot in advance! PM would also be great if you wish...

Does the RME interface have a Linux driver for it? If not, you are SOL. You could look at switching interfaces.

No, that's actually the issue. Neither rme nor universal audio have linux drivers. What interface on the market is nearly as good as the named ones and does have linux support?

This here suggests you can use it with jack & ffado, but then it won't play system sounds.
ffado.org's device list is… not helpful, but I suspect that if it supports the 800, the 400 will be fine too.

Anyway, there are some devices with reasonable kernel support, say fireface ucx or babyface. There might be some user experiences of specific models on the internets…

Hi, I recommend starting with a bootable external drive so you can get assimilated without losing any current productivity. The link is a writeup of a successful install of a linux on a card-reader with 128 gig micro-sd card. An SSD in a usb docking enclosure also works well. Linux drives can be booted using the computer early-boot screen.
Current Ubuntu Studio and many other linuxi can be booted from an install DVD burned from provided iso downloads, for easy testing, and should work as with the steps at the link.

Bump for the weekend. Linux guitarists might find some HD 500s for good prices in the wake of Helix, so a good editor will be value added, and productivty on the rise
for a complex full-featured hardware!
I imagine a lot of man-hours are involved when you don't have detailed specs from Line6...
