Tracktion 5 bugwatch

Very grateful to have Tracktion 5 but as with any new software bugs are inevitable. let's collect them and help squash them faster here.
First few for me:
1) Some plugin GUIs are not showing (just black rectangle) - for example all my 64 bit AAS plugins AU and VST (32 bit is fine) - they do make a sound
2) Plugin scan is still giving error messages for some eLicensor plugins, although they do seem to load OK (and still very slow)
3) "Drag and drop a plugin here to make this plugin mirror its parameters" box - not sure what this is supposed to do but I cant get it to do anything
4) If you render into a track to replace midi when you undo the midi input is gone (that's a holdover from T4)

Thanks but please do not report any problems with plugin scanning. We'll be rewriting that as one of our next things to do. Please don't bother us with reports about it in the meantime.
The plugin mirroring isn't a bug! If you have multiple plugins of the same type, you can set one (or more) to be a slave copy of a master one. So as you change params in one plugin, you can have a bunch of others that automatically update to follow those changes.
And plugin hosting contains a ton of fixes and improvements since T4, but we'll check out AAS when we get chance.

Ah OK - then the problem is the lack of a manual as I didn't know what it was supposed to dojules wrote: The plugin mirroring isn't a bug! Good that the plugin scan will be sorted - that is the only major drawback now for me - everything else you have exceeded expectations with

Found a problem with Padshop Pro (VST3) - there is no facility for loading VST3presets - it relies on the host to load them. Also I get a reproducible poof crash trying to close its plugin window.

This one is nasty - slice up a rendered track. Start renaming the sliced sections - if you don't press enter after renaming a section but just click onto the next section T5 will poof with not even a log.

Thanks - will make sure that's sorted in the next point release..aMUSEd wrote:This one is nasty - slice up a rendered track. Start renaming the sliced sections - if you don't press enter after renaming a section but just click onto the next section T5 will poof with not even a log.

And another plugin without a GUI - Iris VST3 - this one isn't even a black rectangle - you just get the menu bar but nothing else

I am not sure if this is T5 specific or an older problem...If an audio file is edited with an external editor and the editor exports a longer version of the file, Tracktion doesn't recognize the new longer length. (The audio playback and the visual thumbnail seems to update, though.)

Bug: Auto-Tempo in Loop Properties Needs Beats slider moved to work
- Empty Edit
- Import loop/file with no embedded tempo information
- Click Auto-Tempo
- Can't adjust length of clip until the Beats slider has been moved, even if it is set
at the desired number of bars already
---- ps I don't think being able to quickly stretch a clip to match up with bar lines should
---- be dependant on this anyhoo. I can't remember the way it worked in T2/3 though.
There is also no No Timestretch option in the Stretch box, although the tool tip mentions this option.

If this is the official bug/issues thread for T5, then I guess I'll repost what I said yesterday in the 'now available' thread in the main forum.
Im seeing inconsistencies in the way the plugin menus are being displayed (in both popup tree and popup menu mode)
plugin directory <pluginroot>\_Tools\Routing\Crossovers
nests 3 deep in the menu as
_Tools>>Routing>>Crossovers
which is how i'd want it; one 'nesting' per folder depth
However
plugin directory <pluginroot>\Synths\Digital
only nests 1 deep in a single menu item as
"Synths\Digital"
so I wind up with ten Synths\<subcategory> entries.
and this isnt the only place although subfolders of that sometimes display at lower levels of nesting than they should.
plugin directory <pluginroot>\Effects\Delay\
nests 1 deep in the menu as
"Effects\Delay"
and
plugin directory <pluginroot>\Effects\Delay\_Multitap
nests 2 deep in the menu as
"Effects\Delay">>_Multitap
ie there are about 25 menu entries like "Effects\category"one for each subfolder of my effects folder.
But actually even that is not even consistent, as some top-level menu entries are actually three folders deep ("Effects\category\subcategory"), eg
plugin directory <pluginroot>\Effects\Delay\_Multitap\Supertap
nests 3 deep in the menu as
"Effects\Delay">>_Multitap>>SuperTap
but
plugin directory <pluginroot>\Effects\Dynamics\Multifunction\C1
nests 2 deep in the menu as
"Effects\Dynamics\Multifunction">>C1
its pretty much all over the place in how deep the menus are nested or not.

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."
