Problem with imported MIDI files resetting my tempo against my wishes

Dunno if anyone else has had this issue, but here goes.

In T3, I often found that if I received a MIDI file from someone who didn't have his project set to the same tempo I did, the placement of that file in a track would cause a tempo reset at that spot. For example, assume the song is supposed to be at 134 bpm. I send my friend a stereo audio file of a rough mix, because I don't want to send him an entire project, for various reasons. So he just pulls the audio into a new project without resetting the tempo, leaving it at the default of 120 bpm. He then records MIDI at 120 bpm, exports the file and sends it to me. When I import that file, Tracktion creates a tempo change at the placement point, slowing my edit down to 120 bpm from 134 and messing everything up. I never knew how to fix it; my only solution was to have my friend do the part again in a project that used the right tempo. HOWEVER, I also used EZDrummer a lot in T3, and I never had this problem when I pulled EZDrummer MIDI clips into a track, even when their nominal tempo was very different from my song tempo. The files just adjusted.

Fast forward to T5.3.5 and EZDrummer 2. I just updated to both. I recently tried pulling an EZD2 clip into a song set at 133 bpm, the same way I always did for EZD1 in T3 without a problem, and it immediately changed my tempo to 120 bpm at the placement spot! Again, this never used to be the case with EZD1 and T3, only with my buddy's files.

Does anybody know what might be causing this and how to keep it from happening? Is there some kind of global setting that governs this?

Wow, nobody else has this problem? That makes me feel ... special, I guess.

There must be something fairly simple that I'm not seeing somehow. Any suggestions welcome.

What's weird is that the imported loop doesn't reset Tracktion's tempo to the tempo it itself was recorded at; it just resets it to 120, all the the time, as if each imported loop carried a command that said "set tempo to default."

This is rendering what was an essential program for me into something unusable. Any help would be welcome.
