BioTek on another drive/folder than C:

Hi. Yesterday I purchased the BioTek on the Tracktion website. It seemed to install by default in a folder that I never use for my plugins. I moved the DLL into my D:\VST\ directory, launched the DAW and registered it with my email and password. It confirms "Registration complete!", but it is still locked and generates noise. I tried several times and always get the message "Registration complete!", but nothing changed. In the documentation I did not find a hint. Please, can you give me a quick tip, how to move the software into the preferred folder where I installed all my VST instruments?



Edit: I found the answer by trial and error: Generating an offline key file on the Tracktion website and choosing the option to register offline seems to do the trick.

Next I want to find out how to move the contents to a content drive...

Did you try a link? Pretty sure I had the BioTek demo set up that way for a time. I've had the Collective content set up like that from the get go without any problems.

I have moved a lot of content to other drives using symlinks.

On windows (Since you specified Drive C:\)

mklink [source] [target]

Close programs, rename the folder you want to move. Copy it to the desired location.

mklink /d (for directory operation) c:\program\files_to_move d:\files_to_move

Yup dlarseninclusive is correct, except I just use the mouse to move the directory and use hard links
with the /J flag. I just open the cmd window at the relevant directory, and issue the command from there,
so I don't have to type as much.

Like this: mklink /J "VST3" "E:\VST3" That would create a hard link named "VST3" in the current directory
to a folder called "VST3" located on the harddrive E:

FWIW, a potentially more convenient way of doing this (creating symlinks/junction points etc) would be to use Link Shell Extension. Adds right-click context menu operations for Explorer.
