SOLVED: modifiers need "automation read mode" activated to work.

When LFO was introduced a couple of versions ago it was dead easy to drag and drop an LFO onto the Volume/Pan plugin to make a typical cyclical panning pattern. Now that the LFO functionality is baked into a much more complex modifier feature, it's probably a much more powerful feature, but also much less immediate and easy to understand. I simply can't figure out how to assign an LFO to pan (or any other modifier to any other control). The tutorial video is for Tracktion 8 so that's no use. The manual gives no useful info. Can anyone please explain how to do this simple task and point me to documentation of the modifier feature?

The .gif is a bit choppy, but you should get the general idea.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks. I found a more complete description from a guy called Admiral Bumblebee as well. Actually this was how I'd try to do it, but although visually it seems to be assigned to the parameter, it doesn't actually modulate/modify the parameter. Can anyone verify this? I've tried both pan and volume on a couple of tracks, and no luck.

You need to be playing your song i.e transport triggers the LFO

Thanks guys. It turns out it works as expected in a new empty edit, but it doesn't work in another edit I've been working on. It seems this one is one for the developers to straighten out, so I guess I have to send a bug report.

Changed the title to include the phrase "bug report" since this appears to be a bug.
I'm on Waveform 10.4.2.
So the problem is this:
I add an LFO to a plugin and assign the modulation to a parameter (pan in the Waveform volume/pan plugin) as normal. The assigned parameter appears as expected under the "assignments" tab, but the LFO doesn't affect the parameters audibly nor visually, i.e. the sound is not panning back and forth, and the horizontal bar that represents the pan setting doesn't move. I have confirmed that this is the case when the edit is playing / transport running. I am using maximum values for the LFO, and the visual representation of the LFO wave has max amplitude, so the effect of the LFO should have been very audible and visible.
Any ideas, Tracktion team?

Are you sure you have "automation read" enabled? It's the green "A" button in the master section (bottom right of the main window).
This needs to be enabled for Modifiers to work because the "modify" automation.

That's it. Thanks! Is this mentioned somewhere in the documentation? Is there a troubleshooting section somewhere where tips like this can be found?dRowAudio wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2020 1:34 pm Are you sure you have "automation read" enabled?
