How do I record the built in click as part of project?

I read thru the manual but came up with no answer.
I'd like it on a clip of it's own.
Is this possible?

As far as I know, there is no way to record the built-in click track but there is nothing stopping you from making your own. You can load the sampler of your choice (Micro Drum Sampler is nice and easy) and use whichever click sample you prefer.

Use a step clip to add quarter notes and then save the whole track as a preset to add to any of your future edits.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

There are lots of options for click track - you can even have it on during playback, or only for recording, with count-in, you can pick a wave file to use... Do you need it on the final piece you export to, or only WHILE using Waveform?

Step clips allow you to create your own custom one, possibly giving you more feel than a click track. Or use one of the plugins for a drumkit (MT Power Drumkit...?) with one of it's patterns, as a timing reference that you can later turn off/replace; or just leave it there - although it only works well for 2/4, 4/4 type of material.

Are you on a Mac or Windows? If you're on a Mac you can download Soundflower and use it to route the output of your DAW into some other recording software, save it as a file then import it back into the DAW.

This is what I do, although I use the many percussive sounds available in Collective. This way I can use different sounds as different queues, such as a different sound for the first beat of a measure (so I don't get lost), or a different sound to warn me about a bridge, chord change to be ready for, or really anything.

Clicks are just clicks...but using different sounds can be more informative.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Ok. Thanks for the ideas.
One of my band mates has written a song.
So far just scratch vox on one track and acoustic guitar on a second track.
He has sent me the 2 tracks as mp3's and asked that I add any ideas and send back my bass and rhythm contribution.
I do have MT Power Drums. I'll give that a try. See if I can synch to the existing scratch tracks.
He did send the tempo he recorded at.

You've probably come up with a something by now, but I've been in a similar workflow lately with my collaborators, and have just piped the audio of my phone running a metronome app into a channel. This particular app ("Tempo" for iOS) accepts tapped tempi and will differentiate accented notes of my choice (but the first beat of every bar, by default), do subdivisions, and has multiple sound sets. And I don't have to program the track. :-)

I've made a track preset of a track that has the click as a sample playing via Step Clip -> Micro Drum Sampler if anyone is interested.

I'm not very familiar with exchanging presets so apologies if I didn't do it correctly.
