Track Editor, what should it be good for as doing nothing already there?

Besides showing the track in a separately opened window, does The Track Editor has any other functionality?

Possibly more useful in a multi-monitor setup. They can follow edit or be static, other than that I don't know. Be interested to know if anyone makes use of them and for why.talby wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 8:36 pm Besides showing the track in a separately opened window, does The Track Editor has any other functionality?

I struggle to find a use for it. I can only seem to shift clips using keyboard shortcuts, and then it only snaps to the resolution of the main edit panel, not the track editor window. If you could make normal clip adjustments with the mouse in the track editor then yes, that would be really handy.

I had another look at it over the weekend and I could see it being useful for comparing alignment of various tracks, as in you could display tracks 2, 15 and 27 in one window. I got the zoom to sync, so changes in one window affected the other, so that was fine, however I still couldn't use the mouse to shift the entire clip, resize the clip, or offset the waveform inside the clip, which, if you're trying to split and align stuff is not the best. I didn't see any way to add plugins. With these things it could almost become my default workflow, but it's a bit lacking as it stands, which is a shame.
