I started working with Metasound in Unreal Engine 5 and made a quick tutorial giving an overview on how to make a simple beat patch:

Hope this is helpful to some people here, especially but not limited to people interested in game audio.

I didn't find any thread on UE5 Metasound, so feel free to post anything related in here.

Nice one. I did a tiny recreation of my track done normally in DAW in MetaSounds (in initial UE5 release).

I hope they will add more modules with time, for easier mixing/post-processing.
It's great that you can made whole track in MetaSounds and it counts as only 1 voice.

That's really nice work @pixel85, sounds good and much more fine-tuned than my patch above hehe!

I hope for more modules, too, being spoilt by all the options in my DAWs but generally I have just scratched the surface of Metasounds so far, the simple beat above is the first real patch I made in it. Think I'm gonna try some SFX and gameplay-related patches next.

I gave an idea of proper step sequencer to their audio programmer. So there's a chance to get it, maybe even soon. I think that this one thing will speed up composition process a lot.

I may also work on some game where advantages of MetaSounds are used. Of course ona tiny scale as I'm horrible level/gameplay designer ;)

Step sequencer would be cool for sure. And I wish you all the best with your game! Solo-deving can be hard. Maybe we could collab on some small audio-heavy game project at some point. My main game project rn is a simple platformer and doesn't even use Metasound at all, here is a very early preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqzc6TYW8Sg

Wow. Looks awesome.

Yeah, looks dope. You're making it in UE5 already? I'm waiting for official release... Or ideally 5.1 or 5.2 :D I have enough problems with UE4 with bugs and errors, which can be a nightmare for a non-programmer like me.
If you use UE5 for this game, what's your experience? UE5 is stable enough with BP, animations etc?

Thanks! I'm still on 4.25 with the platformer, so I can't really say much about UE5 in terms of gameplay - I'm only using 5EA to play around with Metasound so far. Might switch the platformer to UE5, depending on how long I keep working on it, though. My experience so far is that everything from UE4 that I tried to convert also worked in UE5, but I didn't try to convert bigger projects using multiple plugins.

So same as me. I'm also using UE5 only for MetaSounds tests :)

Yeah, but I guess you are at least on 4.26 already with your other projects? ^^

Made another tutorial on UE5 Metasounds, this time on ambience SFX and it's a bit longer and features more text.

Nice videos. I'll look into them deeper when I find the time. Now I'm locked to Unity for the next 3 months, no more fancy audio tools for me :D
