Just released!!!
Shadows
Shadows is a set of 10 banks of presets for Permut8 (using the native firmware)
Shadows concentrates on using the MIDI program change capability as a performance feature.
yes- you can PLAY the program changes in Permut8 the way you might in Stutter Edit2 or Looperator or Artillery... This adds a completely NEW dimension to an already powerful sound design tool/weapon ;]
If changing delay times ...in realtime...to create interesting echoes and unexpected complex polyrhythms sounds fun, you will enjoy using Shadows
GO HERE for more info/purchase of SHADOWS
Please use the code 'intherain' for 40% discount on Shadows and anything else in the blortblort shop ;]

Nice work! These banks work well triggered by midi and resurrect Premut8

At first, I wasn`t sure what was meant by `..one can use a MIDI controller to activate program changes in realtime..`, but I bought Shadows anyways because whatever presets/banks I bought from blortblort in the past turned out to be a lot of fun, and also because Permut8 is one of the best plugins ever made. Initially loaded a factory bank.. added random midi notes.. to affect the Amen Break. Fun and super-cool program changes!
As for the Shadows banks, I`m not exactly sure what `sends only` (let alone the `inserts` banks) means. Sorry for the noob question, but does anyone know how/where to use them as `inserts` and `sends`?

first- Thanks so much for your support and kind words! It really means a lot to hear that these efforts are being enjoyed by good folks like you ;]
Second- I have to apologize... I was preparing a reply to you earlier today... THOUGHT I had posted it here... but I must have closed out my browser before sending. In any case, its waaay too late for me to start a proper explanation sooo... I hope this video that I clipped together earlier today is not too confusing and maybe it will help clarify things some? I use Ableton Live predominately, but the *ideas* behind all the routes are really the same in principle for any DAW.
I'll check in on this post tomorrow and hopefully add some more context and explanation to "inserts vs sends". In the meantime, enjoy the movie... it's super excellent entertainment ;P

Thank you for the super informative video. I would also like to know how sends and inserts presets differ. I'm guessing sends are explained as in your video and inserts are used just like you would use Ableton without sends. Thank you for your work and advice.

The only real way that the sends and inserts presets differ it is by the mix amount-
Sends banks/programs are set to 100% wet signal (amount of Permut8 signal is adjusted by how the send knob on each track is set)
Inserts banks/programs are set to 50%wet/dry signal. (Amount of Permut8 signal is adjusted on the Permut8 GUI. If you want more, dial hire than 50%, less?... back off to less than 50% )
Probably the biggest benefit to placing an FX device on SENDS is being able to affect multiple tracks through the same device. You also have more independent control over the amount of FX signal on each track.
Running inserts is faster sometimes and allows for completely independent control over the fx signal path for each track.
Some producers have more *set rules* as to what sort of fx “should be” sends (typically, time based fx- reverb, chorus, delay, etc) and what “should be” inserts (EQ, Compression, etc)...but i do not subscribe entirely to those distinctions ... use what works for YOU in your recording situation. Both ways are valid and have their benefits

Ah, sorry; I didn`t realize you were blortblort. Love your work, sir!
Thanks for posting the video (it helped a lot!).
I now have inserts/sends working successfully in Reaper. As you noted in the vid, drum loops in particular sound great via the amazing Permut8!
So basically, the Shadows sends banks/progs would `always` be set to 100% wet (never less), correct?

you *could* set them to less... but if you had the sends on your Reaper track/channel turned to 100%, you would still get some of the dry signal sent back into your track...and as you saw/heard on the video, that *can* introduce a sort of flangey feedbacky sound that you probably don't want ;]

I`m now going thru all the Shadows banks.. which has me wondering:
is there a way to map the Permut8 `randomize` button?
That would be cool!
