Drag and Drop a selection out of the sample waveform in the Browser window. Reaper has this and it works great for just grabbing a chunk of a longer sample out and you could drop it on the arrangement or in a sampler.

This is the reason I can't use any other DAW (except Reaper, which is just perfect). I don't want to aim at the scrollbar/timeline each time I want to zoom or scroll. Also, I don't want to press additional modifier keys either. I love that I can zoom/scroll only with a single hand meanwhile my other hand plays keyboard or just rests. I wonder why most of the other DAWs don't adapt this from Bitwig. It's just super convenient and perfect. And if it's too sensitive for you, I think there's something wrong with your mouse sensitivity. Or maybe there should be a "zoom/scroll sensitivity divider" option in Bitwig.

I would love a sensitivity control. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the approach. I have zero problems with it in Live. I’m using a very common Logitech mouse. Maybe it’s me, though I’ve seen similar complaints.

That said, I still appreciate the KISS approach and following the OS design guides, which for some reason, many DAW devs simply ignore at will.

1) A completely new piano roll. Not just small changes and tweaks, I'd like to see a whole new redesign. Take some ideas from FL, Studio One, and Pro Tools. Take all the best features and apply some polish.

2) I want to be able to do many more sample edits in the arranger. Maybe even the session view. I just think that the sampler should be more integrated with the timeline. Other daws do it so much better than Bitwig.

3) Focus on some basic composer features. We live in a world where it's just producer and singer for many genres. Give me the simple vocal recording features I need, like comping and quick vocal effects and processing.

Bitwig is still just a sound design tool for me. I always prefer using another daw to produce the whole song. If they can implement some of the above, I'd be all in.

Yes! The Grid is great but please please...basic workflow improvements ie. comp tracks and holy cow...auto backup!!
And I love Bitwig, don't get me wrong.

Didn’t we once do a poll on the features we most wanted? Whatever happened to that thread? I’m not sure if BW Devs are reading/listening (I suspect they lurk as they used to be active here before the trolls chased them off) but it would good to collate all the comments and prioritise the feature requests based on the number of people requesting the feature. I suspect better/more midi and audio tools, comping and (possibly) ARA2 with a free version of Melodyne would get a lot of people close to using bitwig as complete DAW solution.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

What is so wrong with Bitwig’s piano roll?

Here it is: viewtopic.php?f=259&t=499400&start=135&hilit=poll

"Advanced tools in the piano roll (scrub, velocity ramp, chop, strum, stretch, etc.)" was the clear winner at 23%. With "Groove quantize with custom templates" and with 3 more votes "Musical scales highlighting (per clip configurable)" (<---bleh) coming 2nd @11%. "Automation clips including automation generators and modifiers" with 9% coming in 3rd, and Track comping and "Chord/harmony track" coming in 4th at 8%.

I'll bump the thread if it allows to see what, if anything, happens vote wise. I wonder if anyone sent that thread to the Devs. :?:

For example, it could get a "snap to the scale" feature, like in Studio One. I understand that many experienced musicians and music producers juggle with chords blindfolded, but I'm just a rookie. I need a hint that can help me with the melody/harmony composition process. And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.
Also, it would be good to have more editing settings. In Reaper I can paint notes with the left mouse button and select them with the right one. It's very convenient to me, so it would be cool to be able to customize that too.

1.) Scene Launch Actions that are separate from the Clip Launch Actions. So you can launch a scene with a play next scene after 8 bars action, the clips within it might have a play random within the current block action, but after 8 bars scene two is triggered. This would be so great to set up whole arrangements with an element of chaos, since the individual clips can still go random within the block, but once the last scene of a block is triggered you can set it to trigger the first scene of the next block.

2.) Better Pianoroll with scale display (from the scale device), brush tool, chord tool, humanize function, strum function.

3.) Tapestop/start Warp Mode that lets you do exponential linked speed and pitch warps on Audio Files

5.) being able to link VSTs, so all displayed VST parameters from one are automatically linked to another, minus the Automation, to create some custom offsets stacks etc.

6.) adjust gain of samples by shortcut+drag up/down in the sequence view, same for pitch.

7.) reverse the browser, so you don't have to travel so far with the mouse to select a instrument/fx

8.) Renoise like spectrogram view

Cheers - it’s good to get a feel for the numbers, I am sure the BW team are interested to know what their current user base is interested in....there 700 votes and advanced editing tools was a run away winner...

Nothing on auto backups? Wow. I'm surprised. That one is big for me.
