Hi,

I'm trying to use Bitwig Studio with the Zaquencer. The sequencer has 4 tracks and each one of them is using midi channels 1 to 4. In Bitwig, I'd like to route 4 different tracks on separate midi channels. Is that possible ?

I've been searching the internet for such an answer but didn't find a clear one, althought it seems that Bitwig doesn't support midi channels yet. Am I correct, and if so, is it planned in the near future ?

Thanks a lot for your answer !

go to options/ preferences and create a generic midi clock device.
then open a midi channel and place a hardware instrument (native bitwig device).
here you can open your midi clock device (that you created in options) and select midi channels from 1-16.
Hope that helped.

Thanks for your answer !

I've created a "Midi clock transmitter" in the Controllers tab in the Preferences, but how do you "open a midi channel" or "open the midi clock transmitter" ? I've created a track on which I've placed an instance of FM-4, but I'm a bit lost for the rest of your instructions...

BWS supports midi channels, for input they need to be set up in the script you are using (like this one: http://www.bitwig.com/en/community/cont ... lti_1.html)

In the main arranger page just click on the little plus and create a midi track like you did with the fm4.
Then you insert a "hardware instrument". It´s called like this and you select it out of the list of Bitwig´s internal plugins.
This plugin has two options to choose from.
1. select your clock
2. select the Midi In channel
There you go. I don´t know anything about the functionality of the Zaquencer. It´s just a suggestion...

Hi,

@bite_me: it would work for midi output but I'm looking for a way to input midi messages into BS. The Zaquencer is a hardware midi sequencer with 4 tracks and I'd like to use it to sequence 4 tracks on BS, with - say - a bass on track 1, a drum kit on track 2, a melodic synth on track 3, etc.

@Tearing Riots: So do you think there's no way around other than creating a script for the Zaquencer, as it doesn't exist yet? I'm asking cause I'm not a coder...

That script is already finished. you just need to copy it into your BS script folder. read the thread for that.
Why Bitwig does not include it readymade i dont know.
Works like a charm.

Ok I get it now! I tried the script that Tearing Riot was mentioning and it works great. At first I didn't get that this one could make it.

Thank you all for the help!

Glad to hear that, here´s a version for 4 channels. Same script, i changed the name, removed channels 5-16 and gave it a new uuid. Cleans up the input select pull down menu.

Amazing! Maybe you should upload it to the Bitwig website to keep it in a well referenced place? Thanks anyway, it's going to be of a great help.
