I just flew over the paper (didn't bother to follow the nerdy math completely) and it took about half an hour to cobble together a tropical additive synthesizer.
Usually its boring to read a paper without hearing and experimenting with the sound. Bitwig is helping me to get to the really interesting parts faster...
This one sounds unexpectedly nice, especially when playing with the volumes of the partials.
If you do have a MPE capable controller, move the blend knob down completely...
Just by looking at the waveforms I did not expect to hear the partial frequencies that clearly. You can compare easily to the standard additive method with the blend knob...
I just put in six partials, but its easy to extend if you'd wish so...

That's very nice, thanks. I just made a new device panel with additive, blend and tropical on and its good to go with modulation fun!

I finally opened the Max patch as well. I made an error. The tropical multiplication is an addition. But my version sounds much, much better and the control over the sounds is much better as well... I would not call this an happy accident, We might just give this a new name...

Nice! I'm getting good sounds out of this, thanks for doing this! I have a math problem so I have a huge problem following some of the academic papers even though I did some acoustics and DSP basic musicology courses at the Uni.
