If anyone is seeing this as late as me, this does not seem to be correct ; broadcasts definitely do seem to be copyrighted in the US but not in some other countries. Glad to be corrected if wrong

You're not the first to notice, it's been said several times already in this very thread.weltergeist wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 8:41 am If anyone is seeing this as late as me, this does not seem to be correct ; broadcasts definitely do seem to be copyrighted in the US but not in some other countries. Is spoken word on TV copyrighted?
3 say Yay:
perimeter sound, monkeyweasel, weltergeist
2 say Nay:
derival, nunchi
Maybe someone should make a poll of it, or ask Google

AURORA CHOIR
Price: $430
Sale: $39.99
I've never used it, so will be unable to answer any questions about it.

blah, blah, blah ...
The sequencer (lower) part of the interface allows for the creation of extremely realistic and powerful spoken lines, with the 24 included syllables.
The default sequence spells out the “Dies Irae” text, but you can easily customise or completely change this. Simply click on any syllable, and select a different one from the 24 options on the drop down menu that opens… Each syllable was recorded at three dynamics, which respond to velocity.

Wokay I read a little more on this
My conclusion so far :
The broadcasts and elements of it are all copyrighted , the only legal exception being "fair use"
Fair use is if you use short snippets for educational purposes, modification or parody etc. i.e. to some other end other than directly profiting of a copy of the original broadcast.
In simple terms:
If you record and sell CD's of the news , you are violating copyright and will be liable.
If you use <5 min(arbitrary short duration) recordings to either comment on them, draw moustaches on people or more sophisticated comic efforts, OR
chuck it in a sampler/vocoder and mangle it to make a point,
You are covered by fair use policy and should be ok.
If you make too much money of course, enough for a large corporation to pay expensive lawyers to come after you, they still might
but then you'll be famous and can get your own lawyers
Sample away brethren and make it count!
