what i need to know is how is this different in quality than the Arturia Piano V
What are your expectations from a piano sound? How do you use a piano in your music? These two sound libraries have absolutely nothing in common. I own both by the way.

If this is of any help, I've recorded some Arturia Pianos that you could compare to NI's recording. The second song in this video is Arturia Piano V2, recorded with the same exact controller/DAW...etc ....as the NOIRE's video.

For me Arturia V2 is very useful but it sounds processed. It maybe a great thing for a certain genre. NOIRE sounds a lot more acoustic with the pure patches.
Thanks. I was more interested in your thoughts of how the products differ. I think you answered it.

I am not expert of VSTs and how VST pianos should sound. I do know though how real pianos sound and can tell the obvious difference between a $2000 yamaha and $20000 bechstein. But thats about it.

I am going to guess, this product falls somewhere between an Arturia Piano V and what VSL make then?

I think VSL new piano mainly offers an acoustic experiernce. It's a massive library, especially if you want all microphone choices. Arturia is a modeled piano and hardly takes up any hard drive space. It won't be a fair comparison. I'd say NOIRE falls somewhere between other NI Pianos such as Grandeur and maybe VSL. That makes more sense to me.

Oh man. Let your ears be the guide:

Listen to the audio demos and walkthru on their website:

Piano V are also models, not sampled.

that sounds fantastic

I do not need another piano....but maybe just this one :D
I´m quite happy with Keyscape, all the other N.I. offers inside Komplete and some more i have but this has really a great tone and presence judging the demos.
Maybe someday as part of an update?

NI Noire Grand piano is a brand new library that was released a few days ago.

Ah! I wonder if NI was aware of such library. The name is awfully close!

Some of people online spelling this one "Noir" as well. "Piano Noir" product is a few years old, it's a real old piano with a dark sound, I think kind of out of tune, too. "Cinematic Piano with Percussive Elements"

It sounds good, but I don't install any of the NI piano libraries - for recording I use Pianoteq, which has improved greatly in the most recent version.

I can't imagine NI working on piano modeling software though, as they probably make too much money from their multiple sample libraries.
Sweet child in time...

I also thought it sounded fantastic!

To celebrate Piano Day NI has a -50% sale o n their pianos. Unfortunately Noire is excluded.

At $75 I would be a buyer but now will start saving for Pianoteq 7

I thought that piano day would be August 8.
Or on 3-14 on pi day PIano.

I've yet to install the Pianoteq demo version at home. I did play it at NAMM and a few other public events, but you can't really have a critical listening experience in those places.
