Hello I have question that programs native instruments komplete 6 or 7 are compatible with Muse Receptor - Rev C - 2GB Ram - Most Recent 1.7.20080616 System Software????

Post

no. The Receptor 2 seems to be close to using Komplete 6, but the Rev C would need to be upgraded to the 1.8 software to work (as far as I know).

Thanks!
What do you think Rev C could be upgraded from 1.7.20080616 System Software to the 1.8 software????

Post

I'm not quite certain how it is being done now. I sent my Rev C in to be upgraded to Receptor 2 hardware and operating system, which cost a chunk of money. I have found the performance increase to be worth it. Check out the plugorama/ Muse Research sites to find out about upgrading just the hard drive/operating system.

No, the Rev C and Pro Jr. are not able to have the OS upgraded to 1.8. You MUST do a complete hardware upgrade in order to use OS 1.8 and later releases. Your only hope of ever using Komplete 6 (et al) is to purchase an upgrade from Rev C to Receptor 2, assuming they do one for that model.

You could if Muse made it work. Don't hold your breath.

From what I recall, if you don't upgrade (which I believe is mainly for the motherboard swap in this case) you can use 1.8 at the risk of not booting up correctly enough times out of however many boots that it wouldn't be considered a stable system for performance and probably honestly even in the studio. That's probably what "making it work" entails. They did test it, it isn't like they are holding back something that's uber-stable just to make money.

Actually, I am finding that this may indeed be the case. One of the issues with the Rev C updates was the SATA...which Muse claimed will not work. I have since upgraded my Rev C with a 1 gig SATA, and I have been happily using it for many months now.

The actual claim went something like this:

"The Receptor 1 Rev C is not upgradable to OS 1.8 because the SATA will not work with the motherboard. In our tests, the Receptor would stop booting after 50 times..."

That is paraphrasing obviously; the discussion is the forums...about a year ago now I believe.

I have booted well over 50 times by now, and everything is fine.

Another "claim" was that Pianoteq 3 would not work with the Receptor 1 Rev C. I have since upgraded my Receptor 1 Rev C with Pianoteq 3.6.x in fact, and I seem to be the only Receptor owner with the latest version of Pianoteq. What bothers me is that they used the words "will not work" rather than "we recommend" or something...that made me feel like I was being coerced into upgrading my hardware to get OS 1.8.

No...it was just like upgrading a real computer. Plug the drive into the SATA1 connector on the motherboard, and then select the startup drive in the bios. I have no idea why Muse was being such a (you know what) about it.

I picked up the 1TB drive for $39 too :D

I just noticed this post...

I think you are missing some information here. Do you mean you sent your Receptor 1 Pro Jr. (with OS 1.7) to Muse for a simple repair (i.e. a crashed hard drive), but decided to pay $1300 for the OS 1.8 upgrade?

Or, do you actually mean that you have a repaired Receptor 1 Pro Jr. with OS 1. 8? If this is the case, what was the charge (if I may ask)?
