I just upgraded my Receptor 2 PRO to the new 2.0.1 OS. While I like the new Rack Mode, I don't appear to be able to get as many sample heavy Instruments in a tagged "Live" mode as I was in Mixer mode. For example, in Mixer mode I had a snapshot multi with Ivory, several instances of Kontakt (Alicia Keys, Scarbee, Vintage D), Omnisphere, and a few other light sample based instruments. I also had a few model based instrument like Lounge Lizard.
In Rack mode I have run out of RAM with Ivory, a couple Kontakt presets, and a couple of Omnisphere presets. I am aware that these are all pretty intense RAM hogs, but they all (and more) worked in Mixer mode. Obviously I could go back to Mixer mode (nice of MUSE to think about that), but I kind of like the Rack mode.
Anyone with a similar experience?
Also, is there a better way to handle multiple presets within a single instrument. In Mixer mode I could have one instantiation of Omnisphere and send program changes within that instantiation. Perhaps Rack mode is similar and I just haven't had enough time with it? thanks -

To answer my own post - I decided to just go back to mixer mode. It seems better suited for what I am doing. Having said that, I like what I see in rack mode and I think I'll try drilling a little deeper in rack mode as time allows. I can understand in some situations how rack mode/live mode could really work well.

I have spent a little time in rack mode and will probably move that way because many of my plugins do not bypass in mixer mode without crashing and restarting to the last loaded state. Not sure about the difference in why ram allocation would be different but it really seems to be a way different animal at this stage of development. I am not sure if rack mode can look at a specific channel for program change messages without affecting the performance controller midi channel. This is important when you send PC's to multiple midi devices from for an example the FCB1010. I hope to do more work with this in the coming week to see what I can figure out.
