Hi,
I just bought the ZynAddSubFX and downloaded the release, but the folder did not contain installation instructions, Read-me files or the installation executables. I did not find any instructions from the home page either. How do I install the program?

Your DAW will list a location or set of locations that it searches for VST plugins. Place the files from zyn within that path and things should work.

Thanks! I am operating with LMMS and only after I figured out how to "install" Grace sampler I realized that ZynAddSubFX doesn't require any installation, but just opening it (the DLL file) with the DAW.

... but I wanted to draw attention to this (I've been working on a zyn-instrument for quite a while).
Since I know you're one of the real experts around here, I wonder if I can ask you a question?
Shortly: I have created a bass guitar, which consists of three parts. The first one is the main one, then there are two more parts that produces a rattling or buzzing sound from strings and frets. The three parts are all controlled by midi channel 1. The thing is that I would like to control the amount of noise using midi cc:s - sometimes no noise at all. But when I turn the main volume for part two and three all the way down to zero, they still don't get completely silent. Have you got any idea why this is?
If I uncheck the two little boxes, that enables parts, I can mute the buzz and the rattle, but I can't do that via midi.

Part volume is used at https://github.com/zynaddsubfx/zynaddsu ... 1265-L1296 .
Part volume is set at https://github.com/zynaddsubfx/zynaddsu ... pp#L59-L72 and https://github.com/zynaddsubfx/zynaddsu ... #L885-L890
Note that on https://github.com/zynaddsubfx/zynaddsu ... pp#L59-L60 the range of volumes are -40dB to +13.3333 dB and -40 dB is not interpreted as complete silence when the volume is applied.

Looks a bit complicated ... Maybe the best thing is to use two copies of the zyn - one clean and one noisy. But what is the preset range of volume, if I don't change anything?fundamental wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 1:21 pm Note that on https://github.com/zynaddsubfx/zynaddsu ... pp#L59-L60 the range of volumes are -40dB to +13.3333 dB and -40 dB is not interpreted as complete silence when the volume is applied.

Hi Per,
Maybe this is a crazy idea, but why don't you add an EQ effect, put on a High Shelf, turn the freq. knob all the way down and control volume with the gain knob? Maybe you can use in combination with the overall gain knob of the EQ... surely you can make the sound inaudible...
OR maybe use expression instead of volume control...
But then expression could be hardwired to CC11 in the classic version, so you need to set the parts to receive a different midi channel.

the rattle and the buzz consists of higher frequencies than the bass guitar itself, but it might work. I'm definitely gonna try. Don't understand which knob or slider CC11 controls, but it's easy to make an experiment and find out. I think I'm gonna do that as well. Thanks!
