I think people say Glitchmachines is good for experimentation because you cannot find a wide enough sweet spot where everything you do sounds good. Like many other here, I didn't like the presets. However, it is not that difficult to dial in the sound you are looking for.

Also, Dry/Wey knob is your best friend when dealing with GlitchMachines plugins.

It really is.
No one, not even Melda, suffers more for their GUIs.
I think I said once;
Glitchmachines would rule the glitch-verse if they did a complete gui overhaul of their entire catalog.

^ I'll just have to agree

The plugins are great feature-wise and sound-wise.
The pitch black backgrounds with light fonts, strong color saturation and high contrast seriously hurt my eyes.
I would use them x100 more if they had a bearable color scheme.

Oh, I completely agree on the GUI. I was talking about the specs and the features when I said it is not that difficult to use them.

The GUI for Convex has been updated and it is much easier to use now. I hope the same GUI updates are applied to all the other plugins.

I have all but Palindrome. Great tools with annoying GUI (okay convex had a GUI update).

Best way for me to work with them is to hit record and start tweaking. Then cut the pieces I want from the recorded audio.

I bought Fracture XT at PB. I wanted it to add grit to pads and other background tracks.

It starts at complete destruction, but you have a dry/wet mix knob. Once you dial it back 80% you are hearing something that can work as a more subtle effect adding charisma to the source material. Used this way only a few presets feel right, but what I liked about Fracture XT is that it makes sense well enough that I can find a preset that's getting there for me, and I can start tweaking in a meaningful way.

I do think that Fracture XT will be featured in my stuff. It is actually inspiring me to do more aggressive effects than I thought I would want to. Currently experimenting.

BTW, chase these plugins with a very musical analog-like eq, to take off some of that glassy/digital feel of their output.

I wonder if these plugins and their GUIs will get much further development now they are practically being given away. Hope I am wrong.

A while back support told me "all of our plugins are getting the same visual makeover as our latest Convex update, and we'll be adding new features and improvements throughout." Sounds positive :)

I purchased Cataract and was able to use it to create this interesting sound effect using the factory content. It took a while for me to get an idea of what the modules did but once I figured the basics out I kind of knew what I could do with this.

Considering I only paid $1 or whatever for this, I think it's definitely a keeper. It's definitely not a conventional tool by any means, but it does a good job for making weird glitchy samples.

I think most of Glitch machines are designed so that you use them to create loops or effects and then sample the contents into something "musical or rhythmic"

Definitely worth getting into if you enjoy that sort of thing.

I hope so too. I remember being really surprised by the old GUIs after instabuying my first plug from him (Quadrant probably) from PB as they have such cool graphics for the covers / names. Ha! No regrets though as the pulgs rule (especially after dialing down the wet / dry!).

My (modest) experience says: if a developer is starting to give away his items for virtually zero then his brand, trust and prestige is massively harmed (see Air or Soundspot stuff).

Air's prestige or reputation isn't harmed in the least bit in fact they just had an exclusive liscence with Akai to make vst's for their mpc software. Only reason Air is giving away they're plugins so cheap is because they already made they're money when they were exclusively licensed to Pro Tools for all them years plus the plugs are old but still brilliant.

And Soundspot if I'm not mistaken are actually developers from Plugin Boutique.

I hate the saying "musical eq" so much you have no idea. But I get what you're saying because I've been throwing reverb and Halftime after they're plugs to make them chaos sound lush.

No problem. By musical, I meant an analog-like WSSCGD EQ. Let me know if there's a better expression.
Warm-Sounding, Soft Clipper, with a Gentle Drive effect when you crank it.
