I'm getting close with mine. This has been a fun one. At first, I was at a loss for what to do with the guitars, but a couple guitar-playing friends have helped and I've learned a lot.
Seasoned IT vet, Mac user, and lover of music. Always learning.

Much work to do atm, but who knows?...
cool song and I never mixed metal before... so that'll be interesting! :)

Good to hear that. I'm really interested in what you guys will make.

I will give my feedback on every mix - I know I want it when I'm a participant. :)

I've been struggling with 2(!) viruses for the last 10 days but I hope I'll be OK soon and find the time to give it a shot.

:!: Public Service Annoucement :!:
We are extending the KVR Mix Challenge 08 by additional 4 days until next Wednesday, the 25th February.

This is due to another low participation amount (we do not want to make this into a habit!). So please spread the word about the challenge to your friends and fellows. As of this moment, you still have 6 full days (GMT+1!) until the challenge is over. One starting point is the Twitter hastag #kvrmixchallenge .

Should the challenge go into round 2, the schedule is as usual. Though we also got note of a very happy event on behalf of the song provider coming up the next weeks. So things might slow down a bit. But szalonykp is so far one of the most active "clients", and he'll let us know what's up.

So I say - enjoy the "extended" submission period (also directed at those struggling with PC issues). Spread the word (keep in mind, we still have great prices to give away!). But don't wait too long for your submission.

Hello everyone!!

Thank you for giving us the chance to create the guitar tones ourselves. It was very constructive and i enjoyed mixing this great song!!

Here's my entry
WAV: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/cit ... u.wav?dl=0

mp3: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/7jd ... 3.mp3?dl=0

I mixed in Reaper monitoring only through headphones and checking the balance on my smartphone speakers.

I used ReaEQ on all tracks
Guitar C: i used Poulin LeCto and NadIR with a Mesa cabinet impulse and ReaDelay
L&R Guitars: Poulin's HyBrit with a Fredman IR
Shred Gtr L: Ignite Amps Emissary with Orange IR
Shred Gtr R: TS-999, Poulin Legion, Mesa IR
For the Guitar Reverbs i used Voxengo OldSkoolVerb for room and VoS epicVerb as a long reverb effect

Dist Bass: ReaComp and IVGI for some drive
Bass: IVGI and Molot compressor

For the drum tracks i only EQed, compressed the individual tom tracks and used VoS FerricTDS on the bus
I only EQed the Mellotron track (by the way, how did u record the mellotron track??)

On the master bus i used subtle Eq, very little compression with TDR Kotelnikov and i controlled the low end by compressing about 1,5 dB up to 220 hZ with ReaXcomp.

Enjoy!!
