Loading Slate VMR in Cubase brings PC to a crawl?

Every time I try to load Slate VMR in Cubase (any version it seems), my entire PC comes to a crawl while it's doing so. It does this during the VST scan and loading the VST in a project, no matter if I use the VST 2 or VST 3. Anyone else having this problem?
