Modular System im M7 Buchla style

I am looking into hardware systems lately and was intrigued by some of the Buchla inspired designs.
If there wouldn't be the prices for such modules....
I researched a bit and with the M7 capabilities I am able to make a few things that can be part of a 'Eurorack modular' in a Mulab/MUX modular system.
I have here a reasonable oscillator patch that includes a wave folder, PM, exponential FM, AM and folder modulation.
It works surprisingly good and replicates some of the tones from Buchla, Make Noise etc.
I am not far from a Low Pass Gate with Vactrol.
I have a prototype of a TipTop Trigger Riot.
I am looking into more.
If anyone is interested to join making 'modules', let's collaborate.
So, here is the first 'module', which works fine just as it is: Enjoy

Mmm, I've read about Buchla sounds but never experienced them (directly from the hardware - only in performance by artists using them)... Are these MuX patches going to represent a single hardware module, so you'll be able to patch them together to make a more complex/complete Buchla-style synth?

That's the idea. Have several patches and wire them together like you would in a hardware modular. That patch posted has no filter. Just an oscillator and modulator. So add one if you think that's missing.
I'm usually more in the MUX editor than anywhere else, so i'm quite comfortable to connect and play things there.
It's simply MUX modular with some pre-made patches, and yes, i'm trying to interface both the usual way and a more modular way. Meaning that in M7 you could build a world with green (or red) connections only. But there is also the event driven world to be taken care of.
P.S.: I do have several HW step sequencer and HW analog synth but no Buchla style module. That's mainly Google, manuals and Youtube.
And I am still surprised how easy some things can be made are and how far MUX can go.

Yes, I tend to start there - just to thrash out ideas as much as anything. I think MuX patches like this are a really great addition -- it makes it less daunting than starting from the simpler "bare" components yet preserves the huge flexibility of a modular synth, whilst - hopefully - adding its own character. I'll try to find some time over the weekend to play with this starting point.AndreasD wrote:That's the idea. Have several patches and wire them together like you would in a hardware modular. it's not just the oscillator configuration and features that give these kinds of modules their sound.. the vactrols have a huge effect on the sound. there's something very slippery and musical about them. the buchla 259 is a joy to play. it's just amazingly musical.. i don't know how else to say it.. putting one osc in LFO mode with a sine/triangle and the other one at audio rate.. select timbre and amplitude modulation and dial in the LFO frequency and mod amount to taste and it just sings. of course.. the vactrols in the low pass gate have an effect on the sound as well..
you'd have to model those characteristics to get anywhere close to that sound. the madrona labs Aalto vst is a pretty nice thing and there are some models in max4live devices from encoder audio that are really nice as well.

he actually makes a handful of buchla emulations that make a nice little system

I know what you mean, although only from videos.
Attached something just made up after reading to show what direction i have on my mind.
Most things are only early experiments, but this does not sound anything like Moog, Korg or Roland.
The front panel is just for convinience, things are made in the modular area.
And do not wonder, the patch does not respond to any events! Notes or otherwise. And it just starts playing by itself.
The decays are just the vactrols
Known issues: Trigger riot not in sync (no idea why, yet)
