Hi Urs,

I know at the moment you have 64 bit versions in AU only on OSX and have talked about introducing VST3 versions at some point.

I was wondering if you might consider 64bit VST2 versions for OSX as well, partly because the VSTs work well with updated controller positions (I mentioned a while back that the AU's don't send the current value parameters to controllers) but because Ableton Live, Ni Maschine & Kore don't have allowances for VST3 plugins (the only host I own that does is Presonus Studio One).

It would also allow for easy Kore template swapping between Mac and PC users (not that that's a huge thing for most users I would imagine).

I appreciate that you're up to your neck with Diva right now but maybe this would be worth considering in the future?

Cheers,

Alan

The problem is, we would have to do shell-based VST 2 plugins like Waves do, or we would have to go a lot of long ways, because you can't have two binaries containing the same Cocoa code. Either way, I find it generally too much work to get there. It will be easier to just do VST3 and be done with it.

I do have plans to integrate things better with control surfaces, specifically (but not limited to) Automap. So I guess we'll report parameters upon preset changes even though we're not required to (and I'll never cease to wonder why firing a preset change notification can't trigger the host's curiosity as to what parameters had changed)

Fair comments Urs... it's got to be viable for you guys to do it and the Shell-based idea is not too good (if it works like the Waves method).

I'd certainly be happy to carry on using the AU versions (especially if the 'parameter reporting' thing can be sorted out... I know it's a pain that hosts can't seem to sort this out themselves).

Appreciate your reply Urs (appreciating Diva today too :) )
