Is there any news about Smash Pro? New beta or ETA?

Cheers,
Nigel

This and Ddmf Colour eq are the only plugs capable of such things. I hate eq's, they sound so poor-ish.

That's it. Great versatile fitter-in-the-mix type of thing.
+ 1 :tu:

I was looking to see if a thread was up and about on this one. (This is the first one to come up in a smash Pro search. :D )

I also liked what the Beta offered...ran it on a bunch of SE synths to see what it would/could do for them. However, I have not gone the route and smattered it on everything...yet. :-o :hihi:
I've got nothing to sell...am I on the right site?

It's available now, 10 eurotropics. Awesome, I bought it.

I was excited to try this, but personally, I found it hard to understand or get any good results from it. Sounded like spectral processing to me. Am I missing something?

Ah yes, I remember: the demo is a little too crippled to get the whole picture.

Isn't Smash Pro very similar to Voxengo's Soniformer?

Yes very similar, but Soniformer has no Multiband Harmonic Excitement.
FR: A "Pan" function could also be useful in SmashPro, but you can't have all for 10 EUR, can you.

I also just bought it. 10 euros is nothing for a great tool like this.

Been waiting long for this one, bought it right away :)
Again, pretty much a steal for €10

I like JB's plugins, I use Barricade Pro quite often so I bought the SmashPro as well.

Got Smash Pro as a bundle when i bought Red Phatt Pro, seems very good but ...

... i can't get 4 or 6 or 8 bands, the parameter skips from 1 band to 10 bands.
When i read the manual it seems that it should be fine to set the desired number... is it a bug ? Anyone having this problem ? Missing something ?

Windows 7, Ableton Live 8.1.3

Thanks guys for any info

Post

Yeah, 1 is the lowest, next setting is 10 bands. The only way around is boost 3-4 bands to the same height.

I bought and loved JB's plugins, but the novelty has worn off, and I'm back to using the old favorites...

Would love to see some updates though.

Ah i see, thanks RunBeerRun.
Well, it makes sense, after all it's not a traditional multiband comp, but i thought it would be easier to dial in starting with less bands than 10.

So, how is Smash Pro for you guys after 2 or 3 months? Use it a lot ? Tracking only? On the bus too ? Mastering ?!

I like it a lot, especially on problematic material, wonderful to even out bad resonances, to bring clarity and punch.

Smash Pro definitely "is a hero", but i have a few minor critics.

A little bit of user feedback here :

I often wish i had more precision in choosing frequency in the low range (like, i want 70Hz and not 100Hz) and on the other hand hi frequencies seem to require less precision.
Ideally, it would be nice to have the frequencies spanned like an analyzer :
20.30.40.60.80.100.200.300.400.600.800.1k.2k.3k.4k.6k.8k.10k.20k.

Also, i wish that when changing the number of bands Smash Pro would behave in a more intelligent way, that is, keep the global shape of the spectrum instead of shifting all to the left.

Third and last point, i happened to process some audio with nothing above 1kHz and i could clearly hear some artifacts above 1kHz, sounding a bit like some soft redux effect. Of course, "warmth" was at zero. Maybe it is part of the non linear process ?

Regardless, it's a great tool, i love it as much as i love Red Phatt Pro and Barricade and Isone and ... (all)
... man, Jeroen, you really rule !!

Thank you, thank you ! \(°o°)/
