I noticed the Concert Grand disk, and it sounds interesting. Can I run this in Sampletank in the Akai format? Is there a plan to bring this out in a Sampletank native format? It says there's a 128mg C7 Sample, can you tell us about that? Will this by any chance be on the download site? I don't really need any more samller size piano sounds, but I could use a good high quality sampled grand. Would this be a better sample than The One, on SS2?

No, "The One" is better than that. I wouldn't bother with that title unless you own an Akai. But, good to know you have a better piano in your SS2 than an entire $199 piano library. That's relative value that I hope people realize we are offering. Ther's also what might otherwise be a virtual Interactive Drum Kits library within Sonik Synth 2 as well. It's SERIOUS value of sounds for the money. It really is. Maybe too much because people probably don't even think about it to that extent. Well, I hope they do a little at least.

Thanks for the honest evaluation squids. The One is really a great voice. I still think Sonik Synth 2 is my overall favorite IK/SR product, so far. I like everything, but you definately set a high bar with that one.

Sonik Synth 2 is my best plugin for the last months
Really really great value, and good price.
But IMHO, The One isn't good enough to me. Sound great, but not enough....
Is there something better in Capsule or extension ST ?

Is it a tone thing? Have you tried editing/modifying the sound using the filters and effects? I suppose you've also tried the other pianos too?

The One's sound quality is awesome. However it sounds like a mono patch at lower velocity samples, and a stereo patch at the high velocity samples. It sounds like a stereo effect "kicks in". I sat there and found the velocity switch point, and could hear what sounded like stereo, mono, stereo, mono when I went between the two velocity levels.

It's REALLY good. But, perhaps playing around with some effects on it may do the trick for you. I like to mess around with the velocity to amp as well. But, putting on some 2 to 1 compression and a little bit of reverb... it sure is nice! This is the same grand as our 3 dynamic premium grand refill that sells for $99. on its own. But, hey, each person has different tastes. If you like Yamaha C7 grands though this is as good as I've played myself personally.SpIdErWeB wrote:Sonik Synth 2 is my best plugin for the last months

Although if you like Steinways and other makes then we'll be doing other pianos too in the future.

Maybe to you it does but of course it was NOT done that way. To me it doesn't sound that way at all. I think what you are hearing is filter modulation which is designed to give more depth to the timbre change via velocity. You can mess around with the filter cutoff a bit perhaps. But, I can assure you that never in my life would I have a piano made to be mono at the lower velocities and stereo at the higher ones. It does naturally open up harmonically with sympathetic strings when you strike louder.Pete C wrote:The One's sound quality is awesome. Those are important things and there is also another couple of things that are even MORE important than that. Which controller is being used and what its velocity response is like. If it isn't weighted keys then that right there can be a big problem trying to get a good piano sound since it is designed to be controlled by weighted 88 keys. Secondly, it really depends on the player's abilities too. For instance, if you would listen to Greg Phillenganes play this piano you would swear it was not only a REAL piano but perhaps one of the better ones you've heard. At least this is how Greg, myself and others listening at NAMM felt.Jeez wrote:SpIdErWeB wrote:But IMHO, The One isn't good enough to me. Sound great, but not enough....![]()

Maybe a workstation piano is not for you. The step up is multi-gigabyte streaming gigasampler instruments.

Thanks you guys.
I want add something : I really like Sonik Synth 2.
I said I don't like the piano, but it's only 1 sound of over 5000.
And of course, it's personal feeling.
I feel the One a little "dark and far", I tried some setting... but no find what I search (for the moment)
It's NOT on the quality of layer, number of sample, etc...It's hard to describe this...
But, of course there's really many setting to test because SS2 is really full and complete.
I still need to search what I want, but there's no doubt : I'm happy and enjoy me with SS2
PS: I had tried with different support (PC, neKo,...) and different keyboard (synth-action from neKo or weight-piano style from Motif

There is also the option of combining The One with other voices to flesh it out to taste. I've blended it with some tine pianos, for example to get a little brighter tone. I'm anxious the hear the Stienway pianos your talking about Squids.

I will try again with different setting, or combi, etc...

That is probably it. I am not used to playing a piano with this many layers. It sounds a lot different from anything in ST2XL.It does naturally open up harmonically with sympathetic strings when you strike louder.
