Kontakt versus Kompakt

If I am interested in playing high end sample libraries with the full control intended by the developers of the libraries, will Kompakt do everything I need?
I definitely am not looking to mangle samples or get into deep programming. But I want to be able to have as much control over the samples as the library developers intended (keyswitching, etc.).
Thanks for your input.

I have Kompakt, although I have not used it with other sample sets than the default one.
The sounds it comes with are awesome, the FX are great...but I have regretted not going for Kontakt on several occasions.
I don't think Kompakt will do everything you need. It will probably do most of it though.

Kompakt has some severe limitations, (you won't even be able to extend a keyrange for a sample) so i suggest you... to go Kontakt, you won't regret it as you will get the upgrade to kontakt 2 free which is a major upgrade.

Thanks, Kovaks. I am curious to see how people are faring using Kompakt with various sample libraries.kovacs wrote:I have Kompakt, although I have not used it with other sample sets than the default one.

But, I do not think I will ever want to manipulate a sample beyond the keyrange it is programmed for. As long as it will do everything the developer intended the library to do, I think it would work fine for me.dramsenik wrote:Kompakt has some severe limitations, (you won't even be able to extend a keyrange for a sample) so i suggest you... to go Kontakt, you won't regret it as you will get the upgrade to kontakt 2 free which is a major upgrade.

I am a little confused? Are you saying that Project 6 works perfectly in Kompakt?
(If so, I would still need to get Kompakt).

That is good to know.Bela D Media wrote:LOL. That's what Alan is saying.
I am trying to sit on my wallet for a little while at least. But good luck with sales of Project 6. It looks and sounds great.

I'm only using Kompakt as a dedicated player for the samples that came with it. For anything else, I'm using ST2LE for ST-based sounds, and sfz for soundfonts (some of which I've built with VSampler).

Kompakt will open and playback Project6 perfectly - you will not lose any functionality or performance - you would never know the differrence between Kompakt and Kontakt unless you wanted to edit some programming of the library.
But with the vast choices we give you in the nki's - you should not have the need to edit anything.
Just load in Kompakt and rock out!
