An EG for $199? That's a great deal: more along the price range of an AG.

How's the battery life on these things? I'd rather not use an adaptor, too many wires. I guess a dummy plug in the headphone jack, without driving a speaker, it should be OK, right?

One thing I noticed that I like better about these than the Ztar - they have regular-sized fret widths ie. get smaller as you get up the neck.

Has anyone broken theirs yet?

Should I start a FAQ for EZ Guitar nOObs thread? :)

Pretty short. Usually only last for less than 5 hours for me (with rechargeable batteries).

READ THIS BEFORE PURCHASING AN EZ GUITAR

OK guys I am now a proud owner of both an AG and an EG though I can't keep both since I am not rich.

I am a little disappointed.
Both of them have the same neck but the strings are different.
The EG has thinner strings and they have more tension to them.
The AG has a slightly thicker strings and it is much softer.
The EG is great for fast solo picking with a guitar pick.
But AG is much nicer for finger picking.

AGRRRRRRRRRRR if I could only combine both into one.

I can get so much more expressive playing with the AG when finger picking that I just can give up on it.
I normally do not finger pick with my electric guitar but I purchased the EZ guitar to trigger Pianos and Bass not to play electric guitar and finger picking is a big part of this.

So the EG has to go.
Long live the AG.

Just wanted to point out this to everybody.
I assumed that the EG is just an improved version of the AG but now I know.
Depending on your needs the AG might be a much better instrument for you than the EG.

It is for me.

That's really good to know. I play electric, but with my thumb and fingers more than a pick, it feels more comfortable to me (played a bass as my first string instrument). The only real reason I use a pick besides speed (which even with a pick I'm not speedy) is for tone. With these, tone isn't an issue with picking medium, so I'm happy to hear I didn't miss much more than the cool wood body with the AG. I also never have liked trems, so no big loss there either.

I dunno, I like the option of being able to send it back. But $175 vs $199 means different things to different people.

Interesting to hear that comparison. I typically just do fretboard-tapping on my EG, so I rarely pick, but then use my fingers when I do (as both my hands need to be free of a pick).

So maybe my back-up will be an AG! Cheaper, at least.

If you are tapping it doesn't make any difference.
If you are strumming hard and fast the EG is nicer.
If you play hard fast solos or repetitive hard bass lines the EG is nicer and faster.

But if you play soft or soft with bursting hard picks the AG is simply wonderful.
Basically for anything with wide dynamic range the AG is superb.
The AG also has the mute bar on the bridge that comes handy.

The EG is simply unusable for low soft velocities.

In any case I will keep both for a few days.
I will try to "break in" the EG and will try some different settings so that I can say that I gave it a full chance.

I will report on new findings if any are to be found.

Now I'm really happy I didn't get the EG.
