Please have a look at this new design template I've created for my albums. I'm going to be pressing a few soon, and thought it was time to update the aesthetic look of things. I haven't done the disc design yet, but I think it will be the same solid color as the album with only the composer/title on it.

You can't really see it in these jpegs, but the solid colors have a bit of noise in them which, when printed, will make it look a bit like the sheen of velvet.

Comments appreciated, especially if you spot a typo.

I agree Shane very nicely done artwork. Has a nice organic feel that is a reflection of your music.
What program are you using to render these? I have to start the artwork for my cd soon and will probably use Illustrator.

Thanks guys!

The design layout was done in Photoshop and the main art pieces are a combination of hand-painted elements and 3D (mostly Rhino for the tendril stuff which was then rendered in either Lightwave or TrueSpace). You can see the original artwork on my websites in various places. I had become tired of the original approach and wanted something more muted and "paper-esque".

Looks very classy and pro. I especially like the Chemical Wedding cover. I think perhaps the somewhat sharper contrast in the colours is more striking and eye appealing.

I also couldn't help noticing that you get good mileage from your name, Shane...featured no less than seven times...and that's not counting the disc and liner notes. :P

Never...*ever* let the blighters forget whose blood, sweat, and toil made it all happen, I say. :hihi:

yeah, maybe I should bring out the yellow a bit more on the Chemical Wedding's main panel for the sake of contrast.

Looks excellent Shane - I think it's a great idea to create a template that can be used across different releases for easy recognition - there are a few design-conscious indie labels that have used this strategy very effectively (Extreme, Tzadik, Dorobo in particular). Very elegant layout.
