hi

Some time or other i'd love to buy the Virus TI and I've been said that FL Studio doesn't have Plugin delay Compensation and so Virus TI's new function (it becomes a vst synth using the dsp card of the hardware) won't work within FL Studio.

and so I'd like to know what other sequencers DO HAVE plugin delay compensation, please name all you know.

thanks a lot in advance :help: :help:

Out of the top of my head:
Podium, Tracktion, Cubase, Logic (except on busses)

Most hosts have PDC.

damn, damn, I love FLS but damn! Virus TI may be the synth of my dreams and I can't enjoy it!

does nayone know if something can be done to combine FL and the Virus TI?

Post

Ehmmm... I understand the situation is that you CAN use it. But without the latency being compensated. As with any other VSTi within Fruity, since Fruity seems to lack PDC. Does the Virus TI have a significant longer latency than other VSTi's?

Please correct me if I'm wrong...

I have no latency with other vst synths. However, I've read that DSP synths don't work well with FL because of the latency.

I was looking for other solutions, since I CAN and WOULD LOVE to buy Virus TI but don't want to give up using FL.

I had thought of using FL to write all the song except for the Virus parts. I would open FL as a vst within a host with PDC, Tracktion for instance, and combine both. good solution?

other ideas mates? thanks in advance

 put a simple delay plugin on EVERY track except the Virus. Set all wet, no EQ and no feedback.

Or only use patches on the Virus with a slow attack so you wouldn't notice anyway. Or shift all the notes for the virus back in time a few ms. Or sample the Virus sounds and use it in a sampler.

Depending on the material you play, chances are you would not really notice the latency. A true hardware virus (ehm, ANY hardware synth) would have the same issue thru midi and some great music is made with it regardless.

poco? pwercore? doesn't work well in FL either, they say.

You think there are easy ways to correct this problem then?

Send e-mail bombs to Fruity developers, asking for PDC. Then wait for a next version of FL, including PDC.

Or switch completely to another host

not to that extent but I've posted some posts about that in their forums.
Or switch completely to another host
well not very practical for me. I've been using FL for almost 2 years now, now that i mor or less master it, it would be a pity to start with another host. besides I have to learn now to use hardware sytnhs. besides the Virus is expensive, buying another host would be excessive. besides...

umm now that i think about it...I write most of my tracks directly on the piano roll in the sequencer, only some of them I play them live.

then if I "wrote" the notes of the Virus melodies also there would be no delay anyway? or I'm wrong?

Post

I think it's pretty rediculous the ti manifests any delay at all.. it's not like it's a convolution reverb or anything
My other host is Bruce Forsyth

The problem with lack of delay compensation is that when you PLAY BACK the track, anything that has extra latency, will be out of sync unless you do what COOkie said, that is, put a delay on every other track to delay them the same amount as the track with the latency.

but in your opinion, that shouldn't be a problem so big for me so as not to buy the synth? just your opinion...
