Evolution keyboards on USB and LCD touch screens

If I buy a Receptor, I will probably be hooking it up to three USB MIDI keyboards. One M-Audio Keystation 88 Pro, and two Evolution MK-461C keyboards. I have read here in the forum that the Keystation is already supported, but how about the Evolution ones?
And will any problems occur when connecting three bus-powered units to the Receptor simultaneously?
At last: Do you find it a good idea to use a touch screen monitor? I have found a good-priced 15" LCD that seems just perfect for rehersals and live use: LG L1510SF.
Thanks

I am using a Keystation 88 Pro with Receptor and it work very well. I am using just the USB cable for both power and MIDI. One small problem is that if I turn on my powered speakers after Receptor and the Keystation are up, I loose the MIDI connection and I have to reboot. I call it a small problem because now I always turn on the speakers first and I never had any problems since.
Most other M-Audio keyboards also work over USB. I know that there are Linux drivers for the Evolution keyboards, but we have not tested any Evolution keyboards yet.
I think that there should be no problem powering three USB keyboards from Receptor. We can try with other brands, just to make sure.
If the Evolution keyboards do not work over USB you can still use one of them with MIDI, or both with a MIDI merge box.

How about the touch screen idea? Do you think it would work well with the GUI?

Personally, I think it'd be a comfortable way in editing. just depends on how exact the display works... but somehow, I love the idea.
do you want to use it "stand-up" or do you want to lay it down on the table (or build it IN your table)... because it might be very busy for your arms "flying" through the air all the time

Actually, my plan is to order a custom flightcase with just enough rack-space for the Receptor (as I won't be fiddling with any other modules - Muse 4evahRobert Karasek wrote: do you want to use it "stand-up" or do you want to lay it down on the table (or build it IN your table)... because it might be very busy for your arms "flying" through the air all the time![]()
Then for the LCD I would assume it's possible to "build it inside" the top of the case, so that it's just to flip open the top of the chassis - and there's my screen. I have to find a way to adjust the height though, as I'll be using it both standing and sitting.
I could probably also find a sollution for an eventual auxilary mouse/keyboard set - and I should anyway, since typing new patch names etc. would be a bit tricky with a simple touch screen.
It should also be useful to attach "legs" to the case, so that I won't have to balance it on a table etc..
This should end up in having mainly two "working points": The case, with the Receptor and it's screen (mouse/keyb), and the keyboard stand with the 3 keyboards on top. Also, most necessary cables would be organized inside the case, and the only cables hanging on the outside would be those 3 USB cables, the main power cord, and the sound jacks (well, ok - MIDI pedals and switches too...

Please report back about the touch screen then. Maybe it becomes a hit!Robert Karasek wrote: that sounds incredible! have to think about that for my personal use... yeah, that might be a cool solution

I never tried one. How does it work? I saw it has USB. Does it show up on the USB bus as a regular mouse?Lord Choc Ice wrote:How about the touch screen idea? Do you think it would work well with the GUI?
Some plug-ins have features in their GUI that require you to click the right mouse button. How do you do that with a touch screen? Actually how to you click with a touch screen?
Also, do you plan to use a QWERTY keyboard too? A PS/2 mouse alone works, but I don't remember if a USB mouse alone works? There are some combinations that don't work.
If you have chance to try the monitor before committing to it, that would be highly desirable.

Neither have I. Anyway, it should be possible to use a USB to PS/2 adaptor, so that isn't of any trouble.DanTimis wrote: I never tried one. How does it work? I saw it has USB. Does it show up on the USB bus as a regular mouse?
That is of more trouble. I have tried to find reviews/userguides and that sort of stuff on the net, but there is very little information to get other than the core specs. But I have read that it is meant to be used it as a mouse-replacement, so there must be some way to utilize all the mouse's functions.DanTimis wrote: Some plug-ins have features in their GUI that require you to click the right mouse button. I do plan to have both a keyboard and a mouse as auxiliary tools, and for faster editing operations, like during rehersals/setups etc.. The touch screen is mainly for use when just few clicks are necessary, as when simply adding a source or activating an fx.DanTimis wrote: Also, do you plan to use a QWERTY keyboard too? I might have a look in local stores if they happen to have one in stock, but else there are few opportunities for trying out.DanTimis wrote: If you have chance to try the monitor before committing to it, that would be highly desirable.
