hey all,
im always wondering what you guys will listen to when you're in your 60-70's (you know, the time when you're mostly accumulating gray hair, sporting a cane, wearing 3x size clothes, etc...)

do you think that 30/40 years from now, you'd still be cranking your hi-fi stereo with linkin park, 50 cent, chemical bros, crystal method, robert rich, usher, etc..

or will your taste slow down and settle your ears with artists like frank sinatra, dolly parton :o , perry como, george jones, rod stewart or michael bolton :hihi: etc....

well, i'm into smooth jazz a bit already so i'll probably settle with that :)

cheers!
be part of the solution, not the problem

Chemical Brothers, 50 cent et al will sound just as tepid and inoffensive as Frank Sinatra to your grandkid's ears.

I think I'll still be into electronic music + techno.

However, no doubt techno will change over the upcoming decades, and hopefully I won't be stuck in "2005".

In 30 or 40 years from now I don;t think I will be able to listen to anything

Maybe underground heavy metel.

I'll still be listening to the Beach Boys and my kids are going to be laughing at me. Until i smack them.

I hear you. ..... barely.

I never stop listening to old stuff, I just keep mixing in new stuff. Right now I listen to a mix that may result in Ella Fitzgerald being followed by Ozomatli. 40 more years will just give me more choices.
All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

I think I´ll stick with good old soulmusic like Rufus&Chaka Kahn, Cheryl Lynn, or classics like Ricky Lee Jones, Jaco Pastorius Big Band, Tower of Power...

but who knows! :hihi:

maybe it´s tarnce! :-o

Or you can laugh at them for listening to NSync.

but I still love kick ass grooves too :)

If the past 30 years is any indication of how things will go . . . Chemical Brothers? Hell, in another 30 years Aerosmith will still be around and making appearances on the Grammy Awards.

In 40 years, Griels will be listening to Gabber and thinkin, 'why in the world did i ever opt for jath?'

Having been in Bavaria for around a week where there is a radio-station that sends an hour and a half daily with music many here would call "new" it stuck me how fashion turns into monotony pretty fast...what they play as "new singer and songwriters" for example is exactly what they use to bash as "being too old" or "sounds like from a hippie" or something...that's funny... so they can listen to music they tend to think is "OLD" and bash it AND praise it, he he...
well most of the dj-s there are around 50 but pretend to be 20, so that might not really be an answer to your question. At least some are 50 and listen to house and singer and songwriters spick'n span new, that's what they say... I'll tell ya more about them in around 10-20 years time :hihi:

personally I hope I'll listen to music I find good and not to radio-stations which seem to like bashing musicians more than anything. But most probably I'll be deaf then due to my PC making loud'n strange noises, so I'll simply shout old songs I can remember still then.

brandon trinity writes nice music to grow old to. I think that'll do me just fine.

that, and maybe throbbing gristle.

I hope to fill out my record collection as I get older, but mostly sticking to electronic/hip-hop. I've already started down that path that leads to inoffensive jazz. Christ I listen to Koop, King Kooba, Lamb, Air, and AS One all the time now. God, it's all down hill from there.
