We need a massive phat Digital synth like a Fantom with all the editable features, waveforms, fx and layers. Why? Pads thats why!!

I think synths like Rhino, Wusikstation, Sytrus, z3ta+, Kubik, have all the tools and sound to make a pad connosieur very happy. Surely, you can get pastel pads from the fifth dimension with these ?

i just want something DIFFERENT!

virtual-analogue stuff is so boring i feel like i'm losing braincells just by thinking about it

i dont want anything wavetable based, i still like sounds made from scratch.

perhaps i'd also like something like the FM7, but a bit more indepth. i love FM7, but it is lacking some things; like a pitch-envelope for each operator, more LFOs, etc

EDIT : also i'm sick of GUIs that impress the next-door-neighbours but are a pain in the ass to use. i like a nice simple modest look :)

There are other avenus still left to explore, which are going to be fullfilled once Sculpture becomes available for PC. Do you get my drift ?

I think the developers here on KvR have covered pretty much all synthesis areas, as BONES said. However, I'm interested in a fully featured Physical Modelling VSTi, that's what I voted for. So it's basically a race between a developer here and my money saving ability, since Tassman 4 is calling me. :)
How can you be so sure that sculpture will become available for PC and have you listened closely to the demos, they are certainly impressive but the acoustic sounds do seem to have a slightly plastic quality to them - I suspect that although this is a great synth, it is still not the perfect solution for acoustic instruments.
No, you didn't understand. My reference to Sculpture being released for PC was said with toungue-in-cheek, that's why the "do you get my drift".
What I was also trying to suggest, was that it would be nice ( to say the least) for a developer on the PC platform to release something similar.

I'm not really after acoustic emulation, but sounds that have the 'organic' and expressive quality OF acoustic sounds/instruments.

A lot of people have said here that they are more interested in new ways of controlling the sounds rather than having new VSTIs, but wouldn't a well designed Physical Modelling synth offer that ?

Connect a PM VSTi to a good controller and bobs your 1st symphony ! ( or something like that :D ).
Funny that you should mention this as it is my intention to continue to develop the core of Super String Thing and to include things like morphing between different 'uses' of the model and greater expressive control. I think it already goes some way to doing some of what sculpture does and when I put the updated demos up this will hopefully become clear. The real aim will then be to produce and 'Ultra String Thing' which will offer a more advanced model and more control.

I will definitely support you with your PM creations.
I really like String Theory (with the exception of those sudden volume spikes). I have a little tune that uses String T. however I need to sort out me website once and for all and start posting some music.

I've been so busy with other people's projects that I was unable to give Super String a listen. In a few days... :)

String Theory is Ugo's not mine - mine is String Thing and Super String Thing and will soon include Mallet Man - although I guess if you are talking about CPU spikes it could be SST you were referring too, this has been fixed to some extent in the latest version (in fact no spikes now and better CPU usage overall).

However if you didn't try SST yet, then please do, you might find it inspiring. Two versions of the demo are available and they will both be updated within the next few days.

Oops.
Sorry Saulc12. I'm getting mighty confused with all those VSTIs lately. Ugo it is then.
I'm off to try SST right now ! :)
How close does fm7 get?
 I have fm7 but it does not handle samples. Now the SY99 not only handles samples and does FM but allows those samples to enter the synth world. Not just additive but as part of the algo. Some weird stuff comes out the that. 8)

There wes a discussion on this very topic ( samples with FM) in this thread http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... &start=255

Thanks FS. I did post on that and read your comments on the FM/SY type of synthesis. I too find it to be a most desireable form of manipulation. Having both samples and synthesis combined into a unified whole. Could you imagine a z3ta hybird? What a monster :)

If someone could make a Roland V-Synth VSTi, I would be grateful. :D

You might actually be able to just about pull this off with SST, but otherwise I think that somebody made a digeridoo synth while ago - was it an Elogoxa synth maybe?

SST ???? What is that ?

Wait I know its Shiva Space Technology (A psytrance label) :D Ok actually I'm 100% sure it is something else :)
Oh and I think the Elogoxa synth is sample based, but I also read VirtuaSonic (i think) is working on one (hopefully physicaly modeld)
