I would have liked to have this issue (here in Germany we are at 84 now like in Good Old England a week before but as you talk of the 101 freebies it must be 83). I am a subscriber, but I didn't get it. If I were Glassback, I'd simply buy and read the mag (well as you don't see a reason, err...that doesn't seem to be the best of arguments in this world) and ask a friend to send you the interesting things from the DVD on 1-3 or so CDs and see if you like and need this stuff. As i can pretty well understand the argument one would need a better soundcard, me too:-).

Being on a budget seems to be still a good argument PRO Computermusic, well this is true for me at least. And still no blabla like in some german mags in the way of "only fools and ignorants move before a Theremin those are idiots as my teacher who lives part time in New York and part time in Berlin told me don't move even if you look like a Hippie" and so on.

Well the woman who made the Theremin famous I was told indeed DID paint herself and moved before her Theremin, that was the fun...and manymany avantgarde-people liked that. So this kind of complex-ridden rubbish (I don't quote the real stupidity here) and calling anyone village fool is something I do not miss in CM - and another reason for buying it. For me.

So where is my issue, I'm a subscriber :x . And excuse the rant. I'm sick of :x :x reading musicians talking about musicians as God talks to the idiots, and people who live in Germany and do NOT recognize this totally stupid and monotonous bashing must be deaf. So hurray to CM until the start to be similar like Keyboards or Keys sometimes.

The DVD thing. I like to download product. The only game I have on my computer is a pinball emu.

I'd stop buying CM because of the DVD too, too much content for me, it's not even fun anymore.

Post

I think they should supply the content on a ROM-USB-Dongle - pretty much everyone could read it. The space is more at a premium, but that would make it easier to preview what you've actually got there (ref what BONES said)..

They won't do it, but it's an idea.

tbh the DVD has put me off. Where as before I might pick it up if there was something worth having there, the enormous content of the DVD has made me think more than twice. I already have a stack of CM CDs that have been welcomed into the drive once, to have DVDs sharing that fate just seems pointless...

o well - price of progress I guess..

Mick, Ive got a spare DVD drive going if you want one...
An idiot on Set Theory:

I wish they would include a golf game on the DVD.

I found it funny how a few issues back the editor claimed their DVD was not filled with 100 freely downloadable freebies and demos (a swipe at MTM?)...then, the very next issues comes filled with 100 freely downloadable freebies and demos!!!

Post

actually, come to think of it, i've got a spare dvd drive banging around too :)
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Its like that with a lot of magazines - they invariably have to revist things over and over to keep new readers interested. it eventually becomes relevant only for the reviews which you really need to take with a huge grain of salt.

I need to upgrade to a dvd drive too, hell i dont even have cd burner. Might get one thats a combined cdburner/dvd reader. We have a really cheap computer outlet here in scotland called Silicon Group but they are THE most dodgy bunch of fly by night wheeler dealers, anyone recommend one I should go for, as cheap as possible?

Generally, Lite-on makes the highest quality cheaper drives, alot of companies even re-badge lite-on drives as their own (Buslink, etc)
