Tuning my new piano

I just got a piano. I guess tuning it is something best left to the professionals. So, what should I expect to pay for this service, I have no prior knowledge of what should be fair.
Also, it has "VICTOR" on it which I assume is the manufacturer, rather than a model or something. It is an upright model and weighs a lot. I had no idea they were that heavy. Anyone heard of this brand before. There was not much (none) info available on the web.
Thanks to all piano gurus.

I will do that. I had a feeling there was a piano tuner around here somewhere but did not know who. Thanks.

Why not get adventurous with a socket wrench? I've done it.

Don't forget the thumb tacks in the pads for that honky tonk sound.

Think I tried that once...forget what happened.
Just busting on you androidlove.
I guess if you had a good set of 8 point sockets and a somewhat long and nicely weighted wrench, someone that`s tuned before with a proper tuning lever could pull this off ok...but not a good recommendation to a novice.

Well I don't know anything about pianos, and I don't have any tuning equipment but I have everything else that seems necessary. I'll just grab my pliers, hammer and a shifter and get started then.

I didn`t give you any advice because I assumed you spoke to bluedad.morelia wrote:Well I don't know anything about pianos, and I don't have any tuning equipment but I have everything else that seems necessary. I'll just grab my pliers, hammer and a shifter and get started then.
From what you said above...i`m not sure what`s up.
