Can I assign a filter to a single Midi/VSTi loaded Clip?
There isn't problem doing so with an audio clip.
Is it even possible to drag the filter into a midi clip.
Thanks in advance! :help:

sorry, but you can only VSTs to audio clips. Midi clips would be cool tho.. :)

That WOULD be cool. :D

Sorry, Rompy. :(

A VST like a reverb or delay proccesses audio. Until the midi passes through a Vsti like a synth or sampler there is no audio to proccess.

Yes, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be cool to be able to do it. ;) It would have to follow a different processing path, but it could still be done in theory.

I was reading that Sonar's midi effects has a delay that works by repeating the midi that is fed into it. Practically no cpu overhead.

Midi FX are a whole other can of worms. :D

I had a rack-mounted one back in the 80's (before free VST delays :-o ). At the time digital delays were way expensive, and I used it to drive my Sequential SixTrak. It was interesting. $100+ just for that one feature. We sure have come a long way.

well, it doesn't create additional audio-processing overhead by way of effects, but it does use up your synths polyphony. therefore it's not possible to achieve a traditional sounding delay effect on a monosynth, unless the notes use are shorter than the delay time.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

I make MIDI only vsts with Synthedit.

And wouldn't it be cool to ba able to drop a synth plug and a chain of effects directly onto the MIDI clip that plays them?

Don't forget, these days the cpu required to calculate all the multiple delayed synth voices will probably be far greater than that required to simply delay an audio stream..

ezzzAckly :)

to platinumers yes it would be cool! & well done i dident think about the audio delay taking less cpu
