Hi,

Can anyone suggest a vst/vsti host that is stable above all else. I'm not bothered if it's a bitch to use. I've been trying to use Cubase's V-Stack but it's not behaving. I've also used Savihost on a few things and it's good but I need a host that will house several instruments.

I've recently gone from being a full-time PC user with Logic 5.5 to a Mac with Logic 6 (I'll get 7 when it's perfect). They are MIDIed up and all generally works fine except for V-Stack which seems to struggle. Before someone suggests using Logic 5 as a host, I've tried and it would be great but I have no clue how to get Logic 5 to slave multi-timbrally. If someone knows how this is acheived too, I would be forever in their d...more knowledgable! :)

Try energyXT or Chainer...

Also remember that every host is as stable as the plugins you use.

Tracktion can't be loaded as a VST/i...

Anyway, back to reality.. you can look at Console. It will function as a standalone, VST/i and DX/i. It doesn't have the gizmo's of XT, making it simpler to get a job done simply, and has more routing options than Chainer.

Sorry, just read, you're on a mac now.. Couldn't say, XT, chainer and console are your best PC bets..

not sure if you need sequencing or not, but if you DON'T, then you should look at DSP Quattro, which is a VST(i) host, but I haven't used it in the full version, just the small version that comes with computer music, or future music... but seems like a possibility... not too many options for Mac, or rather, maybe not the best place to look for them here, try osxaudio.com?

I don't need sequencing, I'm gonna use the Mac as the sequencer and I don't want to cross-platform any sequencing if I can help it. I've just been looking at the pull down list of hosts and noticed Chainer! Anyone have any experience with this?

Btw, in case it's relevant..the PC is a 3.2ghz piece of shit Dell with HT turned off + Motu 896HD. Mac is a G4 with Protools 192/Logic 6.43.
