I've searched around, but I can't seem to find any statistics concerning the sales of sample libraries and virtual instruments (not synths.. but things like Atmosphere or Stylus RMX). I figure big-name products like QLSO Gold must sell 1k-2k copies over a few years, but I'm not sure about smaller, independent releases. Also, I'm wondering whether distribution through something like Big Fish, eSoundz, or soundsonline would yield more sales/profits than independent distribution.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

I'd like to bump this topic because I'm still interested and I'm pretty sure at least some people here know the answer :o

I'm not looking for company-specific information here, just some general numbers. The reason I ask is simply that I am developing a library and I'd like to know as much as possible about what to expect.

I guess that the best you can do is make some polls over diffrent forums to get an idea.
