I have this great and simple amp sim VST called Chimp (also it's sister Chimp Dual)
I use it all the time for lead guitar sounds. so simple to use, and gives me that great solid state smooth sound (ie, radiohead, iron lung or similar) it even sounds good on acoustic guitar tracks in my opinion.
my trick with electric tracks, for lead sounds, is I mic my tube amp first at a fairly low gain setting, then put chimp on top of that...results in a sound I love
I'd like to recommend this great free sim to everyone, except I can't remember where I found it, any ideas?
i thought i got it in the mda free vst bundle, but I don't think this is the case after checking the mda site. i tried a google search and can't find it anywhere. it is also not listed on the kvraudio effects menu
anybody know where this little vst came from?

Hello
>I have this great and simple amp sim VST called >Chimp (also it's sister Chimp Dual)
Chimp and dual chimp are on my freeware site both in the same .zip file, as others have listed http://fs_freeware.home.att.net
Chimp has grown-up to be a pretty big boy now
see thread topic Amps and more Amps in the effects forum.
Thanks for the kind words
Peace

Any chance to change this page without underscore ?FrettedSynth wrote:http://fs_freeware.home.att.net
I've got following error "Illegal character in hostname; underscores are not allowed". Don't have access with IE6.

using IE6 here works fine, try copying and pasting as opposed to clicking maybe ?PeterL wrote:Any chance to change this page without underscore ?FrettedSynth wrote:http://fs_freeware.home.att.net

was chimp modelled after certain amps or speakers?
what exactly is the "speaker Q" control? i thought it was sort of like mic placement, but it doesn't seem to operate that way
it would be cool if i could get this sound from an amp, i'm loving it

No, I spent the better part of the last 30 some odd years playing, Bass.
Played the guitar more in the last year, then in the 30 before that combined? Fun instrument it is!!

Nope nothing to do with mic placement, it sets the cutoff frequency and resonance of an output filter.
Responds different on each speaker selection.

Thanks: I really hope you will enjoy the new stuff then?
