Six months later and still not a squeak...
They said on their website that they would be at NAMM too. They
weren't. Haven't replied to any emails I've sent them either.
Maybe their bright idea has been snapped up by some corporate
interest. Maybe it always was just vapourware ???
Shame really. To be able to tap into the incredible processing
power of something like a NVIDIA 6800 Ultra - whilst PowerCore and
UAD-1 cpu's are several generations old, graphics card development
outruns even Moore's Law...Hmmm, maybe TC and/or Mackie put a
horse's head in BionicFX's bed?

hehe yeah I dont have the gpu firepower to run them (I suspect) but was still waiting for them to be released.. the concept is very interesting to me. shame there hasnt been anything new mentioned on them.
I suspect either you're right in that they've found a coporate sponsor/buyer or maybe there is a technical glitch they have yet to figure out how to resolve?
too bad you can just flash any pci graphics card with something like the uad or poco firmware and get the card real cheap..

Perhaps they're waiting for PCIE equipped mobo's to take off. I think they recommend the higher bus speed of PCIE for GPU effects. There is also the SLi mobo's from NVidia that allow two video cards to work together.
If they are waiting for PCIE then maybe it will take awhile longer before we see any GPU powered plugins. It would be nice to see an update on their site.

yeah good point, munchkin.
however.. I just realized that poco is $375 USD and the uad-1 is $399 USD
Geforce 6800 is ~$280 to 580 USD
When we factor in the fact that one would be getting a suite of plugins for each card (uad and poco) from proven, known entities.. the bionicfx doesnt seem AS appealing to me...
well as long as I dont decide to any serious gaming..

and not to say I have the money or the desire to get any of those cards.. but I think bionic has their work cut out for them in making this appealing to musicians..

I'm the one designing the GUI for it, and I haven't heard from him for a while now. The last time I heard from him was when he emailed me a virtual X-mas card. I think he's probably just busy working out the kinks. He was really good at keeping in touch with me right up until X-mas. I could email him as ask what's up if you guys really want to know.

good lord it would be exciting if some capable plugin DSP code company would've snagged bionicfx tech, like universal audio...
Thing is, even if the card with the initial plugin package costs double that of poco or UAD... well, you get 10x or more of their DSP crunch. and that's a moderate estimate.

Well, I did not want to say it, but since you already did ttoz.ttoz wrote:V A P O U R W A R E
Right now, with the current UA promotion, you can get a UAD-1 Project Pak (which already includes (15) plugins), for around $340.00 (if you shop around) PLUS you get a FREE LA-2A, PLUS a $50 coupon off any additional plug-in. That is $199.00 in savings! So it is like you are essentially getting, (after the $-199.00, in freebies), a Project Pak, which is a proven viable product that works, as advertised, with incredible plugins, for around $141.00.

Is there a need to be rude and disrespectful of other people's attempt to produce something innovative and interesting? The fact that people have difficulty realizing a dream or doing something that they deem to be good enough for public consumption is a source of distain for you? Do you get off on other people's failures? Look, people try to do the best they can, and sometimes they run into problems and things don't work out. Yes, they get excited and tell the public, and maybe make a promise or two before it's finished, but these are not bad people and they don't deserve to be kicked when they are down by having people call their attempts to create something "a big load of mega BS." It's not like they took a single penny from you for an unfinished product. How would you like it if one day someone treated your failures with distain and maliciousness?ttoz wrote:Yeah Billy. Remember PPD PRO? Disappeared, came back years later with an exciting new product and promised it would rock and not be vapourware and i challenged that and they laughed? that was 2 years ago. lol. I've already challenged this as vaporware some months ago and honestly i think it's a big load of mega BS.
