Frigid - as in non-routable. But you need to pronounce route as root, and have some awareness of aus slang.

FWIW, I like using both types of host.

let me guess, you use modular when you are jacking around and REAL when you want to get something done!!

for me it's the opposite. I use a republican host when I am 'jacking around', or just messing with ideas. When it comes to serious work, I break out Energy XT, or Podium. I use Energy XT inside of Podium almost every time though. Nothing beats EXT for very quick workflow for me. It doesn't stand in the way of my imagination like some things do, and I never have to mess around endless menus and hidden parameters; it's all right there, with a simple click and drag.

Honestly, the non-modular supporters make a good point: ease of use.

Still, in any host whose primary interface is non-modular, you oughtta be able to "flip her over" and wire things up in more flexible ways. "Make simple things simple; make complex things possible."

Don't do it my way.

I'll take the bait.

The track I did for the Smartelectronix competition was done in Plogue Bidule, because I needed to dynamically calculate tempos based on positions within audio files chosen at runtime. So, I needed to get something done, and the modular host was the only way I could come up with the goods. OTOH, a track I did for a cartoon soundtrack was done in a combination of FL Studio and Adobe Audition. For yet another track that I'm working at the moment, I'm using FL Studio only. But I have more half-arsed, unfinished, "jacking around" things done in FL Studio than I have in Plogue Bidule.

Choose the tools that (a) you are productive in and (b) suit the music you are composing. There's room for both types of host.

And nobody got my joke, dammit! :x

Oh we got the joke, it just wasn't that funny. :)

SJ is obviously just trolling, and even MORE clearly doesn't actually know what he's talking about.

How can modularity defeat simplicity? You can quickly, easily, and intuitively get the exact same signal chain as a Hostess can. Nobody says you HAVE to connect a million things together just because you can. ;)

Truly an ignorant statement, SJ. It boggles my mind, honestly it does. :D

I DID mention eXT by name, but only because it's a known program. In hindsight, I should have said, "Only mouth-breathers miss the point of modularity in an environment."
