I made it a little easier for AG owners to study these wild scales and chords.
If no chord/scale is selected the chromatic scale will be used for display, but nothing will be sent to the ez-ag/eg
It's version 3.06:
You can just download the hta file:http://mypage.bluewin.ch/ncplus/download/EZ_AG_3.zip
or the full Midix.zip for new users (see below)
Marc
Edited:
v 3.07
1) Fixed a bug when drawing the fret board when a string was muted
2) You don't have to click on the document anymore when clicking on a checkbox (update is instant now)
3) Added 2 fretboard note display options (base 0 and base -2 Cubase)

I've decided AG stands for Avant Garde. Just so ya know. EG stands for eggy goo. (since I didn't get one)

Oh my god you guys are geniuses!
Both of these programs rawk so hard! I'm veering towards MIDIX because I can have a customizable delay for open strings..like set it to ring for 3 seconds and then note off. But I really love both programs. I love the graphic interface of the other. Excellent work you two...you totally opened up the guitar...

Hit "SOUND SELECT" and then +/- to change between 20 presets.topaz wrote:I don't quite understand your app Mark

Thx for your advice Marc, i understand the open strings options now
But still the open strings time out thing does not help me out here ... nevermind...
Still i can´t decide, which app i like more. I stick to Markleford again at the moment, wishing there would be that option that i like best about Marc´s app, to have fret down do nothing: If i play let´s say Em with open strings sounding and a Am-Barré next, i just love the possibility to lay down my fingers on the fretboard already without having the sound being interrupted until i actually pluck the next chord.
If i use "plucked notes only sound" in Markleford´s, pressing down a fret already sends note off.
I already tried to mess around in the script, but as i have no programming skills at all, i did not find a way to get around that problem... Could you help me out with that, Markleford?
Sorry for being such a pain...
Cheers

Aha, I understand what you are after. For now, "my plucked notes only" will send out a Velocity == 0 for fret-down, which is equivalent to a Note Off message!antimaterie wrote:If i use "plucked notes only sound" in Markleford´s, pressing down a fret already sends note off.
So you want the note to hold until the next string is plucked. I could do that.
Good to hear it is fixed.Forgot to say that i got rid of the strange crashes ... was the usb 2.0 driver...

When plucking the strings, what kind of velocity output do you get ?
On mine (AG) I can get a range of 20-125, but a normal play shows more something like 35-115, and not all strings behave exactly the same.

Well, hmm, not exactly... what i´m after is to have the note hold until another fret of the same string is plucked.Markleford wrote: So you want the note to hold until the next string is plucked. I could do that.
It just would make seamless pads or strings so much easier... I´d be so happy, if you could actually do that ...
Exactly, but just to be clear: to have that work not only with open strings, but with every note, it would be necessary to have neither fret-up nor fret-down send a note-off message. (I guess, you´re quite aware of that...)Markleford wrote:For now, "my plucked notes only" will send out a Velocity == 0 for fret-down, which is equivalent to a Note Off message!
That makes it possible to "blend" two barré-chords into another by just picking... (let loose of the first chord -> grab the next chord (first one is still sounding) -> start picking the second chord (new notes are triggered seamlessly) ...
Try Marc´s app with fret-down-action and fret-up-action both set to "none" to get the idea ... so cool for pads...

you´re picking hard thenmbncp wrote:I can get a range of 20-125, but a normal play shows more something like 35-115
i mostly never get more then 60, when i play like i´m used to. also if i pick harder i sometimes have the string "ringing", means triggering the sound over and over.
i´ve set up a midi-input-filter in cubase, that´s just adding a value of 60 to the velocity of every note, feels much better for me then...

Ooops, just found that I did have my README file wrong: it says to use the "Song Select" button to change presets rather than SOUND Select!
Will fix that tonight with next release.

had my ez ag for a couple of days now, having spent the last few years struggling with my roland GK wotsit midi guitar set up, i got a bit over excited at the prospect of a semi decent midi guitar for peanuts.
anyways apart from the wobbly neck i'm also getting me knickers in a twist over midi ox/yoke and midi port settings . I'm mainly using Sonar and Ableton Live and can't seem to work out how or when to open up marc and marklefords aps , and whether or not i need to pipe them through midi ox etc..
can anyone help a blithering idiot out ?
cheers in advance

You will need Midi Yoke or any other virtual midi cable.
With either of our apps, you will need to select the Midi Input Port of the EZ-?G. Then set the output to Midi Yoke 8 (by example).
In your host activate the Midi Yoke 8 Input Port.
Never activate (unless you know what you do) the same Midi Yoke port for Input and Output to avoid accidental feedback.
Also in your host, make sure you don't select the EZ-?G port at the same time than the Midi Yoke port, or you'll get starnge duplicate datas. That's the problem with Sonar that will default to all inputs.
For myself I don't event activate the EZ-?G port in my host as I always use a script that will send the notes thru the Midi Yoke port.
