I mentioned her in the 'Son of what are you listening to now' thread. I got Careless Love by her last weekend, and her voice is just amazing
she's Billie Holiday reincarnated. I'm absolutely blown away by this cd. Any other fans here?

You might be interested in Lisa Ekdahl as well. She sounds a lot more "girly," but has the same kind of expressiveness and that beautiful jazzy pronunciation as Billie Holiday. In fact, I would say she's the perfect blend of Billie Holiday and Blossom Dearie (who's also a great jazz musician/singer). Make sure you get Lisa's English jazz works, not her Swedish folk/pop stuff.

Tbh, I'd never heard of her, a mate suggested I get a copy as we bothGlitchB0t wrote:I had no idea she was still around! I had heard her first cd that had James Carter on it, but had heard nothing since![]()
Thanks for pointing this out.
Thanks, I'll look out for her stuff. I'm not a big jazz buff, I just love certain voices. Like you say, it's the "expressiveness and that beautiful jazzy pronunciation" that do it for me. Peyroux's version of Dylans 'You're gonna make me lonesome when you go' is jaw droppingly goodLunatique wrote:You might be interested in Lisa Ekdahl as well. F#ck it, I'm gonna bump this thread.
I've never bought a cd that's been lent out so much, (hopefully, they've bought their own copy
) and each person has come back blown away by her voice
If anyone missed this thread first time round, and has a liking for Bilie Holidays voice, please, please, do yourself a big favour and get this cd. I should be getting a bit tired of listening to it by now, but it just keeps getting better with each play.
