You bought a good piece of software there. I'm no expert, but IIRC the preset names should give you a good start -- just pick one whose name matches the track you're applying it to (and that you like the sound of), then tweak a little until it's perfect.

and then pick one whose name doesn't correspond, and get to experimenting. I have good results using the guitar presets (tweaked of course) on drums.
I'm still learning to use VW on vocals, I tried a couple of weeks ago without much luck.

oh and this effect benefits from a good read of the manual.
Its controls are deceptively named and/or cryptic in some cases.
Like the Drive knob controls input level
And the speed knob was a total mystery to me at first. I didn't have a clue which was the fast speed, 0% or 100%.
