Yes, there is a problem with the way Tracktion supplies audio data to Jamstix. I have just uploaded a hot fix for this issue.
Ahhh.... This explains a lot.

I may have to try the demo again now...

rcat wrote:Zauni, where can I find a full list of drum modules that are compatible with JS? There's a couple mentioned in the tutorials, however they're pretty expensive.
There really isn't a list because theoretically any VSTi will do. However, some will work better than others.

Jamstix with its built-in samples is not a bad module by itself. I'd use that for now and save for DFHS or BFD (if you have at least 1GB RAM but more is better).

Anyone else have some good module recommendations?
I must say the "Plugsound Drum & Percussion" VSTi,
works nice.
sfz and some cool soundfonts work also very good,
using a CD convert program you can convert any CD you
have to sf2.
sfz is free btw and streams !
BFD (only heard the demos) sounds great but
no streaming for those huge sounds in 2005 ?
1GB RAM but more is better
that is a joke, no matter how good the sounds are. :?

Since JS can host VSTs,
why not add some kind of mixer that can host other
FX, and use them via an aux way ?

The hosted VSTi could also respond to program change.

I know, I know... a lot can be done.
After the release anyway. ;)

Well, Tascam holds the Gigasampler patent on disk streaming. Many companies don't want to touch that area in fear of patent infringement and they also don't want to pay licensing fees.

No problems with me. I have tried it with the free Kingston drum samples and sfz. Worked straight off. :band2:

They hold the Patent on, I think its called "Transwave-streaming", and they protected the word "Streaming" somehow.
Steinberg lost because they advertised "Streaming",
for Halion. ;)
(They had to remove that word everywhere)

Steinberg shot back with Giga import, guess who won !? :hihi:

Steinberg, NI, sfz, VSampler and a few others,
all "Stream" in there own way.
But I agree that Giga does it best followed by sfz.

Saying:
Well, Tascam holds the Gigasampler patent on disk streaming.
Is like saying Digidesign holds the Patent of Hard disk recording...
Both is wrong.

Truth is Micosoft got patents recently for the "right mouse click"
and "Convolution" technics... :-o
I wonder how far they will go and get away with that...:x

This is what Ron Kuper from Calkewalk said:

"It actually began with Nemesys, but it’s now with Tascam. But GigaSampler has patented disk streaming technology, so any company that strives to do it runs the risk of potentially infringing on a patent."

Sad but true. Patent offices have a hard time distinguishing the obvious from the inventive.

then Ron is wrong...
I had been nose-close to that story. ;)

btw. The patented technics name is "EndlessWave(tm)".

BFD streams just fine (DFHS does not). AFAIK, Tascam only has a patent on a certain method of disk streaming (kernel level). BFD, SFZ+, Kontakt etc also disk stream, but using different methods.

Incidentally, Jamstix is pretty kick-ass with BFD - been having lots of fun with the demo here.

Hey,

I just got into the Sonik Capsules Group buy. :D

My question is how hard will it be to setup JS to play SampleTank SE 'Studio' Drums? I'm kind of a newb, and real green with drums.

This all looks like an answer to my prayers!

Hi Richard, which sequencer(s) are you using?

I have Cubase SX 3, Live 4 and Reason 2.5. I'm not sure how I will be using JS, but my guess would be mainly in Cubase.

I just downloaded the demo. I'll try to mess with it this evening.

Thanks!
