your idea of a "professional studio" is clearly rather narrow (and outdated). I don't expect that people who've spent many thousands of pounds are going to suddenly throw all their hardware away now that software can do the same job, but that doesn't mean that those who've never bought hardware are just wannabes who wish they could afford something superior

Thats just obtuse. Nothing in that picture was MADE with a cheap software plugin. Don't be silly.

jojo here turns up every now and again and pretends he's a "pro". He used to post links to his "pro" music but we all laughed a lot and he seems to have dropped them.
Shame. It was fun in a knuckle chewing, arse puckeringly embarassing kind of way.
And he can't even blame the kit because he reckons he's got the good stuff.

I think Ejo is an accidental misspelling of Ejay

You could always pop out and buy the last Kraftwerk album.
OMG. Professionals are those who live off their music. I am SO sure Kraftwerk could NOT live of the money they make off their latest album. So if they're trying to prove a point, it's not working.
You are joking aren't you? Can you imagine how much money they made in royalties from the Tour de France tracks on that album? Not to mention that it was their most critically acclaimed in nearly 20 years.

it wouldn't be all that impressive to walk into a studio and pay studio prices and only see a computer

(unless one had a really, really big monitor)

some people say that there are some significant differences with high-end hardware reverb units and I tend to believe that, but that's about the extent of my agreement that hardware is better than software

unless you want to include grand pianos and full orchestras

I think you'd be shocked at how many people buy Kraftwerk albums worldwide or how many people went to see them in concert. Funny though, I didn't know there were varying degrees of pro.

My own personal best (IMO):

http://www.tronam.com/griels/gangstah28.mp3

I'm considering 'best' on my own criteria though, which aren't primarily to do with mixing or mastering. I need to remaster it, as I didn't get studio monitors until recently...

Anyway, check these others guys out:

http://www.boomjinx.com/

This guy uses almost exclusively native stuff (with a bit of V*r*s)

http://www.bk-recordings.com/highvoltage/

Same as above (except a JD-990).

http://www.putte.de

Same for this guy (except a guitar)... Of course you mightn't agree, but I think they all produce great sounding music. Whether it would sound even better with non-native equipment is open for debate.. But it sounds a damn sight better than a lot of stuff I heard in the charts, IMO.

Sounding 'good' is highly subjective. And there is no such thing as professional equipment. Only professional users... Which is again a highly subjective term, but let's say it means they earn a living from their music. Lots of those people use native plugins.

What are you trying to achieve with this thread? :help:
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

There was some freakin accident on the highway this week. Took me about 2 hours to get to work,
