Playing wavs on a piano roll in cubase sx

Hi!
I'm just learning cubase sx but as a former FL Studio user one thing confuses me very much:
Is it possible to just quickly load up a wav-sample and then play it on different pitches with my midi keyboard? In FL studio I could play my wavs immediately with my keyboard after just loading them on an empty channel. Am I missing something here or do I really have to load up somekind of sampler software to do that in Cubase? For example I would like to load up a piano-wav and then immediately play a melody with it to see if it fits my purpose.
If somebody could help a bit with this I would be forever grateful!

you must have a sampler.
but you could load up fl studio and use it as a vst inside cubase
