Here's a bit of smoldering blues tune made solely from Manystation.
So Many Times
I'm trying to use Manystation to see if I can create natural sounding drum and guitar parts. It's nowhere near finished. but I've had a lot of fun so far.
Let me know what you think.

Cool song. It's my favorite genre, but very hard to do well with VST's. Your song shows that Manystation goes a long way making it possible.
I love the groove and the drum breaks, it's very characteristic. I'm not sure if I like the guitar sound (at about 2.00), it's too heavy for blues (depending on your blues style. Comparing with SRV, BB King etc I'd go for a different guitar... (But it's not my song of course
))
The organ at 1.10 is wonderful though.
Please keep us/me updated on new versions of it.

There still are a good 'more clean' strats in Manystation though... Using (solo) guitar in a blues song never hurts.AlanB wrote:Thanks for your comments HansM - I think I'll ditch the guitar at about 2.00, and maybe try some organ/guitar harmonies.
btw I hope you don't mind if I steal your idea and try something like this myself too?

Yes, I was thinking of trying a cleaner guitar sound. I'm much better at playing guitar than keyboards, so it's an intersting challenge to try to make the guitar phrasing sound right.
I don't mind you copying this idea at all. I want to make to bass track less repetitive, make the drums more interesting, and see if I can manage a few chord changes!

I'm listening to it now. Nice change of tempo. The guitars sound good. Nice change of feel at 1:04. Are there a few timing issues that could be fixed by quantising? Did you make this using XT? I normally use Trackion but I must try making a track using XT. Is the midi editing in XT better?
Also, can I suggest adding some reverb to the vocals to provide distance between them?

Yes there is a bit of work to do... I did almost no quantizing, on purpose, to give it a live feel. But I do need to correct a few things, and indeed put some reverb to the vocals (and redo them as well).
It was done using eXT. That's the only host I use currently, although it doesn't really matter for this song.
Thanks for the feedback

Hi Paul
I'm been a bit busy this week, but I hope to do some more on it soon.
It's great to have really good guitar, drum and bass sounds to work with.
If I could put in a request - would it be possible to have some snare drum rolls, and peddle hi-hat sounds some time?

I've done a bit more to this piece, and there's still more to do. I need to sort the drums out a bit, but I don't want to quantize the life out of it.
Do you like the way it's heading?

Hi Paul
Still having great fun with Manystation!
I've done a bit more work on my song So Many Times.
I've tried to maintain the "Warts 'n' all" live rock band feel, whilst correcting some of the drums. I gave up trying to write drum fills using a midi grid, so I used a live performance on midi keyboard instead. Some of the guitar and organ is new as well.
I think that I've now reached the point where I need a chord change!

I am really digging this tune...
You have done a great job so far here!
I love the Solo organ and Guitar and the way they bounce off each other and then harmonize....Nice..
The new chord change is cool too.
I noticed from the first version ...you changed the lead also .. I was just groovin' to the old version ....and now a whole new groove here!
I noticed the new version is a little low in volume ... Boost it on the Master with a heavier limiter maybe?
I like this alot.. Keep going!
Make sure you guys check this out ..
