Hey! I just had my 41st birthday. That happens when you get old. You wait, young man - it will happen to you, too. :)

Mr Arkadin
Actually you might want to check out Purcell's Frost Scene from his opera 'King Arthur', you might just recognise some of the tunes.
Well spotted 8)

Nice to meet someone who knows the astonishing Henry Purcell.

I adore his stuff ... so much feeling

He had more musical ideas brushing his teeth on a wet Wednesday than most get in a year, if they're lucky :-o

Meanwhile, talking of soundtracks, I saw Coach Carter last night with Samuel L Jackson (yes, he took me personally ... not :hihi: )

Brilliant south central LA soundtrack 8)

crap movie with a cool soundrack?....i helped make a few. the first one is called the vulture's eye and its so low on the production totem pole that we didnt even come close to hitting B grade. this is probably D grade material. but i think my soundtrack for it turned out pretty cool. its mostly dark ambient but there's a few other styles in there too.

the second one, perfect poison, doesnt have distribution yet but that one probably hit C or no-budget B grade. the soundtrack to that one turned out rather well too, i think. for that one i used GPO almost exclusively.

you can actually buy the first one from a few places on line, if you feel like blowing money for no reason on a bad movie. or you can just go to my site, listen to both soundtracks in mp3 format, and pretend your watching a no-budget movie. it might be more fun that way. :hihi:

but as for big professional releases...
personally, i didnt like lost highway at all (though i usually do enjoy david lynch), but the soundtrack was tremendous.

Wow, that's my fave David Lynch film (=Blue Velvet) a real return to form. Oh, well, takes all sorts i suppose.

kevvvvv (is that the right number of v's?), yeas underrated genius is our Henry Purcell, bloody marvellous stuff (and some very rude bawdy songs too  )

The Sineater (renamed The Order in the US).

Forget who directed that "interesting idea but terrible dialogue" movie starring Heath Ledger as a priest, but the film score by David Torn was awesome. Just wish I could find it locally...

The Nosferatu with Clause Minski had some great early ambient stuff.

'Blaxplotation' flicks always had top notch soundtracks. :hihi: Some of the 70's Corman movies and Dark Star also come to mind.

But nobody better be dissin' Stan The Man or I'll tolchuck the yarbles out of all you droogies! Right, right? :uhuhuh: (But I must say Eyes Wide Shut had a lame soundtrack, and Christiane had said Stan was going to refurbish it after the WB screening - but then he died. )
