damn, I wanted to buy Microtonic today and it's the same as with z3ta or any via share it, you can't buy it with a free email account.
I simply can't understand it

The rationale behind this is simple: paid e-mails can e used as proofs to your identity (since you provided details and already paid the mail firm or ISP), freemail don't.
I have a mail address registered as "spacefox" which is, suprisingly, not my birth name.
But: have you tried entering a free mail account anyway? try using a relatively unknown (no hotmail,m yahoo, etc.)?
EDIT:Don't you have a mail given yo you by your ISP? that's what I use for Share-It.

My ISP has the braindead idea of using the same domain for both paid and free accounts, thus I cannot sign up on share*it with my ISP account. Luckily I have a few other e-mail accounts I can use, but it is a pain none the less.spacefox wrote:The rationale behind this is simple: paid e-mails can e used as proofs to your identity (since you provided details and already paid the mail firm or ISP), freemail don't.

Of course, you can buy with a free email account. The only thing you can not do, is paying with your credit card; you have to select one of the other payment methods.origami wrote:damn, I wanted to buy Microtonic today and it's the same as with z3ta or any via share it, you can't buy it with a free email account.

In the past, there were heavy problems with people using stolen credit card data (or their own one claiming that they were stolen). So you delivered the software to the customer, and then, after a while, there was call back, and your money has gone. Of course, together with the license which was gone as well. The call back Shareit had to pay, was 50US$, iirc. So this is no fun at all: When the customer pays the devloper 40$ for a license and does a call-back, then the calculation was about the following:
Price of a licence: 40$
-ShareIt fee: 5$
==> The developer gets 35$ per sold license.
Then the callback:
-Callback: 40$
-Callback charge: 50$
==> The developer has to pay 90$ per call back.
It was found, that almost all of those people used free email accounts. As the amount of deceit reached a level which was inacceptable, it was decided to exclude free email accounts from credit card payment.
Nevertheless, if this is a problem for you, try to contact the developer directly. Maybe there is another way.

Hmmm... I strictly use a Yahoo! account for all my online purchases, since I don't want my ISP e-mail put on a spamming list. I've yet to have a problem with being denied a purchase yet.Cabinfever wrote:this is web standard now. fact of online life
If retailers would play it cool and not sell off your e-mail to spam lists, people would have less fear about using their "real" e-mails.

BUT I am also tired of paying the price for others fuckups. It's not a huge deal, but it's one of those little annoying slivers up under your fingernail.......
Well, it's not as bad as dongles....

hmm,
I had such issues with yahoo once or twice, but then I use email.si which is free but it's not so well known.
BTW, that email.si doesn't work half of the time, it's ok for purchasing though.
