I've been playing with FL for close to a year, and SX for less time, but I consider I'm pretty new to both Cubase SX and FL Studio.

I'm trying to see if I can sort of compose within either software. Very simple composition is what I'm trying for, just run some strings and some horns and general MIDI stuff, but I am trying to create some of it directly in the MIDI editor(s).

I've found a few annoyances and I would like to know if these are in fact software oversights or if I am missing something.

Mainly what bothers me is:

1. Cubase draw mode cannot toggle like FL Studio. True?

2. Cubase draw mode cannot draw continuous (contiguous) notes. True?

3. FL Studio cannot do quantize resolution (graphically) (and no doubt many other things) that Cubase can do. Am I right there?

These are the top 3 right now. Should I just be using Finale (which I'm also fairly inexperienced with)?

Thanks,

Fruityloops and Cubase are based on different concepts. In FL, they assume you dont want to get too much into midi contoller hardware. In Cubase they assume you have a midi controller and therefore dont need editing to enter notes.

There is a good quantize tool in FLStudio (with groove templates), and and quick quantize feature. Press Alt + Q!

Thanks for responding.

I just found out I missed a couple weeks of email at this particular account, so I'm catching up now, hence the late acknowledgement.
